This neighbor has since moved and now on my second set of new neighbors in that house . Each does not know how to mow a lawn . City dwellers . So his lawn now is a field at least 4-5’ tall . I asked what’s up with the lawn ? His response was : well we don’t use it for anything so why should I mow it . What a touch hole

A few months ago, I told the story of my lunatic neighbor and how everyone in the neighborhood just wishes he would move or be committed. Two of my neighbors actually did move because of him. The guy has mental issues and is bipolar on top of it. He is very combative and is never wrong. When he drinks it only gets worse. He has lusted after my wife's best friend every time she pulls in our driveway. My brother just pulled in from South Carolina to visit and had to visit Mike for an hour before he got to see us. A couple weeks ago we had a family yard sale and Mike decided he was family and showed up badgering my in laws until my sister-in-law asked him where his shock collar was? She told him he would stay in his own yard if he had one on. He left mad. He came back a few days later and confronted me about what she said. We have done more than we ever should have trying to get along with this guy but enough was enough. I told him there is no reason for you to be coming over here anymore. He demanded to know why, and I told him my family comes here to see us not you and Lila is totally creeped out when you are over here stalking her. This needs to stop now. He stormed off and hasn't been back since. My neighbors loved it. I wish I had done it 2 years ago.
Mike still drives my neighbors nuts but not us anymore.

Many years ago, as my wife and I were trying to buy our first house, I sold my condo, and we rented a unit in a duplex. The unit was in a good zip code, had a small backyard for the dog, the landlord was a lovely old lady, and the terms were month to month. What could go wrong? The other unit housed her hairdresser young daughter with her boyfriend. The warning signs piled up. Neighbors were very friendly to us; it turns out the prior tenants were rotating in and out regularly. We would ask to plant flowers, and while the landlord said yes, the daughter gave us dirty looks. She didn't want to lock the garage door to secure our items. Warning sign #2 -- Never ever share a garage with someone you don't know, even if they are the landlord's family. As we were getting settled into the unit, the boyfriend started interfering with moving in, even though he didn't own the unit. As I complain to the landlord, the daughter objects. As it turns out, the daughter and mom co-owned the duplex and argued about how it should be run. After one week, the daughter and her wannabe firefighter BF come to my door screaming and banging on the door. I had to call the cops, and after ten days in the duplex from hell, we moved out. We got our deposit and unused rent back.

Life lessons learned -- Never, ever do a month-to-month; it's for a reason. Always find out who's the owner and landlord. Avoid duplexes like the plague as they are not too private. Ask about the tenant's history. How many people have lived here? If it's more than two in a year, leave. Also, call the cops sooner rather than later, and don't pull out your weapon; it's just not worth it. If you have to move somewhere temporarily, use a storage unit while you look for more permanent digs and only move in what you need.

This place was in the LBC; if you want to know the address, just PM me.

Everything thing in Long Beach California is nuts.
I lived on 6th and cherry for about 6 years. I have lunatic stories forever. When I moved there, there were 3 Crack houses on the street. I never left home without a gun. ;)

All these stories are awesome, funny, and scary. Makes one lucky to have "good" neighbors. While in the coast guard, doing time in alaska, we lived in base housing. five units side by side with individual backyards. neighbors bring home 3 puppy black labs. they were kept in backyard day and night, constantly barking. every night, barking.....well after a couple of weeks of this, i was done with it. i was able to get their phone number, and from then on...whenever the dogs starting their barking at night, i would call them....you could hear the phone ring through the wall, and also hear someone getting up and going downstairs to answer it. just as they would get down the stairs, i would hang up. lol...i was loving it. they would be up, hear the dogs, and let them in. i did this for well over 3 weeks. it took them that long to figure it out. dumbasses. so they were trained to bring the dogs in at night. but as fate would have it....the dogs didn't last long. we lived next to a stream that the salmon would come up to spawn. bald eagles would hang out along the stream which also had a nice view of our backyards. one by one, the pups ended up being breakfast, lunch, and dinner. asshole neighbors knew after the first one but did nothing to protect the others.

Wow, heavy bizarre stories....And I was going to complain about my weird neighbor who painted her front door black and had a new roll up garage door installed in black-their house is painted yellow. The husband is so lazy that when he got notice from the post office his mailbox was falling down and that mail delivery was going to be suspended until he repaired his mailbox, he used tape to secure the box onto the post instead as a "repair". In Spanish that is known as being a "yuevon". Unfrigging unbelievable.
What a lazy ass..He's an Administrator at a Private College so it's not like he can't afford to hire someone to replace his mailbox.

Jeez, it's one thing to tape it up as a get me by until the weekend or something..I actually used a ratchet strap to hold mine together after the plow hit the damn thing, but you bet that weekend I was getting a permanent solution going.

Not to bad of a guy but, an idiot neighbor, guys dog would sit on the side of the house all day and night and howl. I would mention it and he would deny it. Summer comes around and we can't open the windows because of the constant howling. I googled it and up pops "Bark-B-Gone." Some type of ultra high frequency bark deterrent. First week, I'm not sure this thing even work. Second week I notice the dog goes on the other side of the house to howl and bark. Third week, nothing. Not a single peep. After a couple more weeks I catch him outside and mention that I haven't heard his dog. He looks at me and says,"Weirdest thing, I got home from work and there was a big hole in the fence and the dog was gone?" In a way I feel bad. In another I did a victory dance but damn that thing worked.

I got nothing. I live on a 900' long dirt road with 3 other houses. We walk back and forth from house to house all year long having cocktails. The kids and adults all ride around the neighborhood and thru each others yards on snowmobiles and 4 wheelers. We occassionally throw quarter sticks out into the woods at midnight. Sometimes we shoot guns. We've all been here for 20+ years. I can't walk down to check my mail without my neighbor offering me a beer as I walk by. My other neighbor has plowed the road and my driveway for over 20 years for free. I fix all of the motorized toys in the neighborhood for free. Sometimes when I come home my neighbor is in my pool. Between the 4 houses we pretty much have the skills and resources to conquer anything and at the drop of a hat everyone is there to help each other out. I feel bad for some of you guys. Life is too short to deal with that shit. I know, cool story bro.

On TW there are two threads, one where people give away stuff for free and one where people ask for stuff for free. The giveaway thread is always telling people who ask for something “wrong thread, you want the other one”. Maybe there needs to be a “Cool Neighbors, all is good thread”. This could be the first post?
