Even in Texas? I had a 4x4 for years, never used it. Pretty sure the transfer case shriveled up and rotted with how unused it was....

And by towing, I mean bring it back and forth from the auto shop, not cross-country shows or anything.

With the huge fires we had down here recently, I was worried about how 2 people could move 3 cars in time before our house caught fire. This way, just hook the Mustang to the V6 Tacoma and putts away!

It's not always what some would call.....driveable.

I guess I could just be fabricating my needs based on what seems easiest now. Having the ability to tow in certain situations would be nice (see "1 fire, 2 people, 3 cars" scenario) but it really won't be my primary activity.

Still, pretty truck. 6-speed would have been fun.

Mustangs NEVER hold value!! I've lost money on both of 'em i've had. Well I should say newer ones dont.. the '69 :drools: My mom had a '69 mach 1 and she misses it like crazy. My brother and I use to fight over who got it when she was done with it lol I would have won since he would have totaled it or gotten it towed off by doing something stupid.

For sure sell the mustang not trade... and get a taco!!!

No vehicle holds value. Some just lose it faster than others.

Please people, never consider your cars investments.

Classic vehicles only. And frankly, the return percentages are horrible compared to other long term (30+ year) investments.

It looks like money on paper, but that's because people conveniently neglect to take inflation into account. They say "I bought this Mustang in '69 for 5 grand, kept it in good shape and low mileage, and sold it in 2010 for 30 grand! Look how much money I made!"

In reality, 5 grand in 1969 had the same purchasing power as 30 grand present day. Do the math:

    http://www.westegg.com/inflation/infl.cgi

When you add in cost of storage, fuel, and maintenance over all those years, the owner actually lost money in real terms.

No, automobiles are toys only for 99.9% of the population, and lose value for 99.9% of the population. That said, if you have the money to spend, who's to say you can't have some toys you love? :D

Actually, if you started buying 3 years ago, you're in the fucking money.

Also, it depends on whom for. All those banks and auto-companies we bailed out with our tax dollars seem to have their investments doing just fine. It must be nice to operate a portfolio with 0% risk of loss.

I didn't pay much for it, so even though 4wheelin4banger is not my misterpib, it is still worth more. I could probably sell it for twice what I paid.

YES, PLEASE!! :D Especially a test drive. Carmax said there are a few scratches that they will buff out (tailgate, front fender). If you know what the factory towing package looks like (with the additional coolers, etc), could you look and see if it has them? The sales guy at Carmax (bless his heart grumble grumble) keeps pointing to the picture with the tow hitch, saying, 'yeah, it has a towing package!' but I want to know for sure that this is factory rated for 6,500lbs. If you also see any glass damage (windshield especially), let me know.

Pictures of everything if you have the time! :D

Thank you thank you thank you. I owe you a beer! Or two!

I doooo, 4 of 'em! But good luck there. My second-to-oldest just bought a '79 Mustang (gag) and my second-to-youngest is married with a baby (gag) and my baby sister is still only 14 (gag). I don't know my oldest sister, she might be pretty cool...
