Thats a great idea over carfax but still not trustworthy imo.
My one owner 2006 tacoma I traded has free carfax at the dealer right now. It doesn't show my accident (that was fixed at the Toyota body shop paid by my insurance) and has erroneous service information. It claims I did all the services at the toyota dealership which I did not.
Car places in general really give me the jeebies when it comes to used car informaton.
I personally like to talk to the previous owner eye to eye or buy a truck/car/recreational vehicle new or with remaining warranty.
It does have some remaining warranty correct?

As an 09 it should be good unless purchased and put in service early in the model year say Oct/Nov/Dec timeframe 08. The 3/36 would be up if its any of those months.
That is something I would check or maybe was mentioned in the other 6 pages. Sorry I did not read them all.
Good luck getting a truck, two is always better than one. :)
I do like the color a lot. I wouldda bought a tundra that color if they still had it. That and the slate blue

You could get a better deal somewhere else, I'd wait. Carmax is a bunch of crooks, they tried wanted to give me 2 grand less than the trade in value on my trade, plus 16% interest with a 720 credit score and the truck was a bit over kbb retail price. I dont care what they say about their strict reconditioning process, you can find the same truck for less, can haggle, etc. Drove an hour to phoenix to get mine, $4000 under blue book, secured my own 2.9% interest rate and they gave me kbb trade value for my trade. Carmax is overrated, just my two cents.

I liked my experience with Carmax. Many of the cars are overpriced, though...they are not too consistent it seems. I waited for the exact truck I wanted and I got lucky - it was a fair price.

My financing was under 5% w/740+ credit score - I probably could've gotten higher, but they do allow you to opt out of their financing and seek another source. I was just too lazy to do it, but my local credit union will allow me to do so at any point.

I'd sure like to! I'm trying to buy with cash, which requires me to sell my 2007 Mustang first. If the truck stays around that long, then heck yeah! I'd like to at least transfer it down here, then haggle over the less-than-ideal condition. Sales guy said if I have any legitimate reason for walking away from the vehicle (paint stains, old tires, glass damage), then I don't have to pay the transfer fee.

Other than that, I'm excited. It's still under factory warranty for a few more months (until Jan 31st), low miles. Yes, I agree the tire issue sucks - but they could also be cheap tires, or when trading it in, the previous owner took his good tires and slapped on some old ones. Either way, I don't think you could do too much damage in 13,000-miles (3,000-miles was purely dealership, according to Carfax report).

While I'm trying to sell my new 'Stang, I'll keep my eyes peeled for a better deal, but from what I've seen (Craigslist, Carmax, local dealers, chain dealers), this is a pretty good price for around here. It's also $2,600 BELOW KBB....soooooo, not too much to complain about unless the thing falls a part when you kick the tires.

    I agree with this.

I say tell them to transfer it down here, which will probably take a few days, and should give you a good idea how of the newer Mustang will sell - then just go from there.

I found a picture of the front tires in question. While the tread is low, I don't think this qualifies as "beater"

Now, it does mean the tires aren't matching, so the cards just fell in my favor for two new tires

That thing is nowhere near a beater.

My 1985 4Runner was a beater before I started working on it - missing a seat, two seatbelts, probably 20 bolts, two spark plugs, etc...

Hahaha, I hear you there! We had a 1991 Explorer with 225,000-miles by the time we sold it. That thing....was wild. I think the interior was held together with more contractor-grade construction adhesive than clips and bolts. Once we were down to a single functioning window and no AC, we called it quits on that bugger! Now, I sit in my husband's Tacoma all day and play with the windows "LOOK, HONEY! THEY ROLL DOWN!! AND THEN BACK UP!!!" :p

That's exactly how I felt going between the 4Runner and my 2007 Tacoma that I had at the same time.

Called the dealership and ran the VIN. It does have the factory tow package! HELLS YES! :woot:

So, do I call, have it transferred, and play dumb about the exterior issues so I have an easy out in case I can't sell the Mustang quick enough (and get what I want for it), or do I call and say "yo, here is a list of things I hope you'll address, then transfer that boitch down" or should I wait until I have sold the Mustang, then see if the truck is still available.

How often do you folks see an access cab, V6, 6-speed, sound upgrades and low miles around? I'm chomping at the bit prematurely (read: before I REALLY can afford it) because this, to me, is a pretty damn sweet set-up that I could see myself enjoying for a long long time.

As long as you are sure that the transfer fee is refundable with a legitimate reason, I say get it transferred and then really focus on selling the Mustang while it's in transit.

I think it would have to be VERY legitimate; it is pretty much nonrefundable based on the documents you sign.
