So, after today I think I'll buckle down and make a decision. (Before anyone goes hating, some fairly important, life-altering, emergency tests are being taken today and I like one life-altering event per day, kthxbi). That, and I don't want to detach my driveshaft on the Mustang to pull it, but all I have room for on my property is a tow-dolly.

edit: that would be quite the strip, considering I just noticed all the badges and fenders are correct

lol! You and me both! I think I'm going to tear the doors off when I run into Carmax, yelling like a crazy lady for them to transfer that bad boy down here!

Blood work sent in. Now I sit, eyelids a twitchin', for the results.

Meanwhile, I should go practice driving the 5-speed, huh.... :p

I read half of this, then my ADD kicked in and I ran off to try it. I just crawled around an empty parking lot in 1st going clutch-gas-brake-full-stop, clutch-gas-brake-full-stop - I probably killed it 20 times out of 70, but when I got out of that parking lot, I only killed it once on the road! And I now feel what the clutch is doing, where it's forgiving, and where you really need to pay attention or risk killing it.

I am very interested in trying the crawling through gears without gas at all. I will keep my eye out for a long quiet road to try that on!

Thanks for the advice, btw, it was really helpful! :burnrubber:

Cool. I'm pretty sure I first heard that on Cartalk...I didn't have to learn stick really because I rode motorcycles first. That method really worked when I taught my ex-wife to drive my Eclipse, though.

Well, I went to Carmax with the intention of transferring, but my favorite sales guy was gone and the chick basically said, in many more words, "we probably won't fix shit, so transfer at your own risk"

    (Say WHA??)

So, I'm waiting for my favorite sales guy to see what he says.. *le sigh*

I walked out when the lady sighed and said the front tires still have 70% tread. Ma'am, I saw those pictures, and unless you swapped out used tires for OTHER used tires....

    Oh my. That's joyful.

Wonder what she meant by not fixing stuff. What exactly needs to be "fixed" that they won't uh... fix?

I asked what Carmax's policy was on the tires and scratched window. The best we got was "based on the vehicle price, we might put tires on it, but I can't say for sure" Oh. Thanks. Are you guys trying to sell the vehicle, or chase us off? The window they won't touch.

I'm thinking the tires you can claim as a safety issue, the window not so much. If it was cracked then they probably would fix it.

    Sweet!

And if you ever decide to get rid of your steel rims give me a holler.

I definitely will! How much do those go for? I was planning on new rims, so I'm glad these will have a home :)
