Again to help you get more perspective I'm building my truck for comfortable overlanding/camping, and I've got probably an additional $15k in it over the cost of the truck. I'm going for the buy once/cry once way about things, but I've also done all my own labor minus the gear install. I'm building mine to sleep in the bed area, and if you're considering that then definitely get the long bed. I've still got probably another few grand to spend too to finish it off too. Got the Uptop Overland rack being built which was $1300 with the thin fin. I'll probably get a bumper of some sort for the front and winch....another $1000-1500. Swing-out bumper for the rear? Maybe, but that's $2000. This shit is neverending so make sure you're ready to spend that kinda money when you can probably get equal enjoyment with your current truck and a ground tent. The turd gen is pretty comfortable after you sound deaden the interior....set aside a weekend for that. Oh yeah and I want to get a goose gear rear seat delete to hold an Dometic cooler.....$2000....it's never. fucking. ending.

Buying a pre-built modded truck will never give you the satisfaction of doing it yourself. The skills you acquire will also help you out on the trails. If I had put everything I thought I wanted/needed on my truck from the start, it would be nothing like what I want it to be today, three years later. I am thankful I took it in baby steps.

REMEMBER: at least 75% of the guys with the fully-built Instagram Tacoma’s on 35”s, like the image you shared, sell the truck within the first year or two. If you follow these bro’s, there always comes the post “selling the truck, life priorities have changed”.

I always read that as “I put 4000lbs of shit on my truck, it cost me $20,000 in debt, and the thing drives like a POS. Fuck this truck.......I’m gonna buy a stock vehicle and never mod it at all”

Sometimes they sell when the free mod stuff they get from vendors dries up because their followers have got bored of the truck and stopped liking their posts.

If you really want to change your life, by getting a cool 4X4, to let you access the back country, buy a TRD OR and have fun modding it as you gain insight into your own needs and wants.

I think that's an important point. Never EVER finance mods. You never get what you paid for them back out of it, and the $15k I put into parts financed would turn into $20k with interest. You'll be amazed what a stock TRD Offroad can do too when you just pick the right line.

We just have our IRAs maxed out and a brokerage account currently. I haven't figured out the self-employed 401k alternative for me yet as I have a variety of incomes and I'm not quite sure how to go about it.

If more people understood that the difference between broke as a joke and in debt and millionaires are just a few lifestyle choices repeated I think more people would be happier in their later years ha. Got my folks out of debt and they just went back . . . sad days.

Anywho, this thread is pretty derailed haha. Not that it seems to matter. OP has lots of good reading

Not sure what more details you're looking for, but if you mean you're all thumbs on doing your own labor then youtube is here to save the day. Pretty much just search for whatever mod you want to install and follow it.

I understand. I was curious to specifically know what your plans were for sound deadening ...

Curious to how you sound deaden it. Was think of just adding Noico to the doors and behind back seats. Would that make a difference? I don't really care if it's a little loud, I just need the vibration noise on the highway to be a bit quieter.

    I got a roll of this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N2BAQXS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And then it's just spending the time taking your interior apart. There's a few videos on youtube I watched just to see if there was any tricky parts, but not really. It's just a lot of of time. I might pay someone if I were to ever do it again on a vehicle  But adding sound deadening to the interior is 100% worth it.

I literally took the entire interior out and did everywhere I could. I'll try and find the pictures.

I just did the Rockville (basically Noico but cheaper). If I do the goose gear I've heard more noise can come in so I might add some actual padding specifically for sound over the rockville stuff, but yes it really helped vibration. (sorry OP for derailing it this much)

Oh yeah and those are the two biggest problem spots, but once you've started you might as well do it all for just a little more work. Take pictures of what wires were connected on the way and what goes back where. I think I pulled the back panels off maybe 3 or 4 times cause I kept forgetting to put things back. PITA, but worth it after you're done. My taco now sounds more like my GF's Lexus.

Hard to tell, but I had some of the 50sqft left, but the 36sqft probably would have been too little.

I’m curious what you mean by this? Converting paper into metal coins? Aren’t they issuing bonds and paying interest on it to the buyers? Or printing money out of thin air? Or lending money to banks for next to nothing (that they either have or have created by way of bond issuing or money printing)

    Please educate me. Genuinely interested.

So there are multiple ways the treasury can do things to increase the amount of money in the market. Some you have mentioned, but they are currently doing the coin thing. Its basically a way for the government to regulate how much currency is being circulated. They hardly ever touch it, think of it as your savings account for emergencies only. When you touch it, you always want to pay it back (reason why they add it to the debt).

Now the reason they even convert it to coins is because of storage (less likely to get deform). The reason why they even hold money like that is to control the supply of bills/cash. All money is, is a finite object that people circulate (also why economists are nervous about wage gaps due to the fact people start hoarding that money). It isn't unlimited so based on supply and demand, actually restricting how much money is out in the public increases the value of the dollar against other countries. It's just another way of increasing debt, without printing money from thin air. Because if we start printing money out of thin air (without backing), it's almost an irreversible situation. We can't simply just take that money back when we stop printing/needing it. It has to be stored because the money would most likely circulate the globe. Those coins are actually backed so it's easier to fix/correct the inflation since its already there.

Think of it this way, I have 20 apples and there are 5 of us. I am the head of the group (treasury/government). If we want someone in the group to do something for us, we have to pay them apples. Everyone has 4 apples so everyone will try to compete on who gets the most apples. If I were to grab the apples (since I am the government) and put 10 of them in a box (the coin) so everyone only has 2 apples now, the price will go down for any favors since everyone knows there are not enough apples to go around. By releasing the apples, I can control how much services cost.
Now, what if I bring in paper apples to the mix (printing money) and say another group of 5 took some of our apples (another country), it'll be hard for me to grab those apples back because I just pulled them out of thin air and are not the same as a legit apple (being backed by something).
The simplest explanation I can give on a really complex and flawed system.

Sound system 2-10” Sundown SD4, 2 amps Rockford Fosgate mids and highs. Sound deadened entire cab and door with Metra Ballistic deadener
As far as the sound deadener, I used 3 boxes of Metra Ballistic Sound Deadener, 36sq ft each. That includes roof, floor back of cab and inner sides of the doors. That’s the entire cab of the truck. Remember- when you go this far, DO NOT START THE TRUCK WITH THE LANE DEPARTURE CAMERA DISCONNECTED. You do not want any error codes for the LDWS. As stated in a few other threads, time consuming, but this step is definitely worth doing. No “tinny sounds” at all after this step.

Sorry off topic but are those the bushwacker fender flares and did you bed line them or is that normal texture?
