Damn! Nice job! You went further than me. I did put some on the roof, but I have the sunroof so I didn't have as much area as you did, but yes, absolutely worthwhile investment....but I might pay someone next time. Although I say that with all my mods and then realize how much it costs to pay someone and just do it myself.

Yes bushwacker flares with raptor liner sprayed on them and black bolts. I didn't like the smooth look, but again. kinda a pain in the ass. Prep time was about 6 hours. I used two cans to spray them.

Or you can get it insured for what you put into it, and not worry about it, but obviously you'll still have idiots that come on the internet just to shit on other people and the stuff they enjoy doing to their trucks.

"Hey this is a great way to enjoy your truck, and here's how to do it!"
You: Yeah, but there's a small chance something bad can happen.
    "Ok?"

Go back and into your basement where you'll be protected from everything and admire your truck from a window ,and keep making these great contributions to threads.

I'd estimate you will have to drop 10-12k in aftermarket parts to build that truck.

Don't worry about what others do to their trucks... Worry about yours. If you want your truck stay stock, that's fine.. we aren't forcing you to do anything.

They can do whatever they want to do to their trucks. They want to go off road, camping, or both. That way, they can add stuff to their trucks so they can carry stuff off road.

That's what the insurance is for. If the truck gets damaged or totaled, they can get other truck and start over again.

    Yeah.
I'll throw in my 2 cents. From what I can tell, you really just want the bigger tires. What I can't tell is how serious the wheeling you need to do is. You will need some kind of lift to fit the tires, and some dealers do sell packages with block lifts and larger tires, good enough for fire roads and some light wheeling.

The first step is to get the base to start with, which will depend on whether you want/need a rear locker or are married to the hood scoop. If locker, go with a TRD Off Road. If scoop, TRD Sport. If neither, SR and save some money.

Your 7K would get you a decent lift and tires with some cash left over for other cosmetics, but probably not enough to add a locker.

Decisions, decisions. But start off with the right base and go from there.

    Hey Man,

We have a close relationship with Tuan. I did not read this whole thread so sorry if this is repetitive but build specs on his truck are as follows. At least as best as I remember.

    • 2017 TRD Pro
    • 2.5" ext travel king coilover tuned by Accutune
    • Archive garage shock tower with 2.5 x 12" king smoothies tuned by accutune
    • he changes wheels every few months but runs 35s
    • upTOP alpha roof rack
    • upTOP TRUSS bed rack
    • Lil B's/R4T fron hybrid bumper
    • Lil B's sliders
    • R4T LCA skids
    • Rigd supply ultraswing
    • Baja Lights
Much more little stuff i am sure but that is the big stuff.

    Like, so many.
Yeah, you're gonna drop some serious coin on a truck like in the OP. But you could do something pretty similar for a reasonable sum.

If you have a budget for mods of 7 grand then I'd suggest you get
    Rock sliders
    Skid plates
And good off road tires like Duratracs

then use it, keep researching on TW and see where you're truck is lacking and decide what you would like to add and use your leftover money to buy that.

You may find that you're stock suspension is fine for your needs, may you'll decide you want a bed rack and roof top tent, maybe you'll end up wanting a soft topper...

Just take your time and try to avoid buying flashy shit and then not having money for the stuff that you realize you actually need/want

Wow that is an intimidating DIY project. Guess I'm going to have to deal with my howling tires for quite some time because there's no way im comfortable doing that

It's intimidating looking, but it's just time consuming and there's a lot of parts. Take lots of pictures. Label bags of bolts for specific pieces. Write steps. A lot of pieces snap in and out so just write down how you had to snap it out cause it's gonna go back in that same way.

It's more about staying organized then anything actually difficult. Anyone can do this project if they have time. You can do it you just have to get started. Having a truck that doesn't sound tinny, music sounds better, and road noise being less is totally worth it. Less road noise will make longer trips less exhausting too.

Yeah the tires whirring can be exhausting. I dont have a garage and my truck is my daily so i dont know when i’ll have a good time to tear it apart. How long did it take you?

Assume a weekend. You can take a few hours to take everything apart while taking pictures, and notes. Then measuring, cutting, and fitting pieces is a long process. Buy a pack of razorblades cause it's not easy to cut through that stuff. If you need you truck for anything just bolt your driver seat back without the rest in temporarily and do your thing. Then putting stuff back in order is another couple hours. You'll really get to know your truck. You could probably pay someone to do it but you'll be without your truck for a couple days still, and I imagine it's not cheap. No idea the cost but probably expect at least a grand. If you plan on keeping the truck for a long time then it's worth it. I keep vehicles for 10+ years so it's totally worth it to me. On a scale of headlight bulb swap to engine rebuild......this is a a couple levels up from headlight bulb swap. It's easy but tedious.

As mentioned above, time and organization is key. Keep track of bolts and clips, take plenty of pics, don’t rush. Try to keep the goal in mind. My motivation was overall sound quality and quietness of ride. I did not want and buzz or tinny sounds when the bass hit, it worked and was worth the effort.

Not sure how your skill with gas/brake pedal finesse can control each wheel individually like CC does but okay
