i installed larger tires on my 14. i see there are $250 tools out there to correct the speedo. is there a tuner available that will help with shift points and torque converter lockup that'll also correct the speedo? im just weighing out my options....

How much larger? Most of the time it isn't worth the effort. Most guys go no bigger than 33". At that size you'll only be off by 5 mph at 70. At slower speeds only 2-3 mph. And that is only when the tires are new. Once you put a few miles on the tires they wear down and get smaller and you'll only be off by 1-2 mph at 70.

Even if you do calibrate it for when the tires are new, then your speedometer will again be off by 2-3 mph as they wear down. It is impossible to have the speedometer 100% accurate 100% of the time because the tires are constantly changing diameter as they wear down. Manufacturers try to find a happy medium where you'll be showing 2-3 mph slow with new tires, and 2-3 mph fast when they are worn down to the point of needing to be replaced.

I just installed a hypertech 230117 in my truck. You have to remove the gauge cluster to install it, but it's easy. I kept the USB programming cable installed and routed it down below to the kick panel.

One major gripe is their software needs an internet connection to function, but the software is super easy to fine tune. I was able to get the speedo within 1/2mph of my GPS. new tires for worn tires probably have a bigger difference, but that goes back to the reason I kept the USB cable installed, so I can easily tune it without pulling the gauge cluster again.

So back to that software internet connection... Not fun driving down the highway noting the speed difference then needing to find a starbucks or something to get the software to run on the laptop, then update the device.

I used wayz app on phone. Took a buddy with me to write down the actual speed vs the speedo speed. Eg. When speedo shows 30 I,m actually at 27, and so on every 5 mph thru 80. Cost was zero
