I have a 2001 Tacoma Prerunner that has been a great vehicle. I have modified nothing -- to my knowledge, everything about the truck is as it was when it was brand new.

I have this problem -- whenever the weather is wet, or the barometer changes, the #$!$%#@* car alarm goes off when I unlock either the driver or the passenger door.

I have read quite a bit about different things to try -- I am not convinced that any of them would work.

I just want the dam* thing turned off for good.

    Tell me how.

Pretend you are talking to someone who knows nothing about the electrical system of a motor vehicle, because I do not.

    Thanks!

    q.

    Is this an aftermarket unit?

"IF" your truck is like mine.......
look at the underside if the drivers left wall under the dash. Take off the left kick plate.
Look at the metal wall about 2/3 up of what you can see.
"IF" you see 3 wires on a ground, a 10mm holding it
1 wire will be 2 wires together light brown with 1 circle connector.
there will also be 1 black wire and 1 black wire with a white stripe on the same bolt.
Take off the 2 black wires and Tape the crap out of the 2 black wires so it will never contact anything. re-connect the brown double wire.

    Put it all back together.

The mechanic that got my truck working again when the alarm went nuts told me if I wanted to kill the alarm, this would do it.

    YMMV

The issue I have with mine is the stupid box not unlocking the truck 20% of the time when I disarm it. Pretty sure I read there's a TSB for it but I doubt they honor it this late in the game.
