I want to warm up my truck for a few minutes in the morning. Since I have two keys, I thought I could lock it while warming up in the driveway so it doesnt get stolen. But when I attempted to lock the power locks they popped back open again. Great feature if you are inadvertently locking yourself out, but how can I work around it?

You could press unlock once, to just unlock the driver's door. Then fire the truck up, and lock the drivers door manually with the key.

^ I've tried that and it didn't work. Also tried just pushing the lock down, but no.

Try harder. It just worked when I tried it in my driveway right now.

You need to use two keys. Start the truck with one key. Get out and lock door with the other. This also temporarily disables the remote. Run in the house and enjoy your coffee.

Correct. That's what I was inferring with my original post. You need two keys to do it.

Slightly off subject but I have a 2.7 stick too. Can you get a remote start on a stick ? You could park in N and start it to warm up from your kitchen table while you have another cup in the AM.

Yes you can get a remote starter on a stick.

You have to go through more steps when you get out of your vehicle though. For mine I have to put in neutral, set parking brake while holding brake pedal down, release brake pedal and hold down the lock or unlock on remote. Truck stays running until I get out and hit lock then it shuts off and is ready to be started by remote.

Autostart 2 way (tells me when it starts) Had the dealer put it in so they couldn't deny warranty if something goes wrong. Had them include it with purchase price.
I installed one a few years back on my old truck. Wasn't too bad to do. Just hate screwing with the electrical on a brand new truck.

    edit:
The only thing I don't like is when I forget to turn off the headlights when I get out. They stay on and to turn them off you have to go through the whole process of resetting the starter again. Anytime you open the door without using the remote start it will go out of "ready mode". Safety first!

Thanks. Now that I know I can have one on my stick I'll have to add it to my wish list. I'm sure it's too expensive to just go out Mon and git R done  I'll be doing some research one this one. Any one want to chime in feel free. ;)

Note that remote start on manual transmissions is illegal in some states. That said, I'd get one :D
