Many of the Toyota dealers in Arizona are also doing the "dealer add on" for the tune of $1,800 to $2,200. It is some paint protection, door guards, nitrogen in tires, etc. Not close to being worth what they want.

Yep. I don't know when southeast region dealerships started doing this but it's practically every dealer in GA, AL, FL, NC is putting these add ons on the vehicles.

My cousins live in the Atlanta area and the same truck I bought in southeast PA stickered for $36,742 TRD off road double cab model 4x4 w/o premium tech package and the same exact truck stickers for $38,000-38,500 at most of the GA dealerships.

They told me Cobb county Toyota in Kennesaw doesn't add these stupid add ons and they have no doc fee as well.
They are a family owned and operated dealership so they don't purposely try to rip customers off. Check out their site.
    http://www.cobbcountytoyota.com/
Their prices are with out the add ons and are consistent with the prices here in WV and PA.

It's not like Toyota is having trouble selling cars and trucks. You'd think the dealers would be doing so much turnover that they didn't need to make an extra $2 grand here and there. To me that runs sales off more than attracts them. I'm ready to buy now, I'm even approved through my bank for up to $35000. I'm just not going to overpay that much for things I don't want. Especially when they won't remove it and will allow me to walk. Why not just say screw it and order the truck and make $500 real quick.

Ordered my 2017 Sport through Dave Edwards Toyota (daveedwardstoyota.com) in Spartanburg, SC. Got exactly what I wanted at a decent price with great service from Tony Jackson (864-680-4406), a top-notch salesman who won't BS you. Give Tony a call and tell him an old senior citizen from East TN told you to call. Don't think you'll be disappointed.

I shouldn't have oxidation problems since I live in the South and we don't have to worry about salt roads.

    Definitely.
I was just quoting a movie (fargo) in relation to useless dealer add-ons...

These dealerships always want you to buy something on their lot and make the sale the same day which is really annoying.
I wanted a blue TRD off road initially and they offered to trade with a dealership a 100 miles away for the color I wanted but told me I had to pay MSRP for it.

I didn't want the color that bad so I bought the gray one on their lot for $2000 and some change off MSRP. Didn't have time to order one since my lease was up on my only vehicle and they probably wouldn't have ordered me a blue one anyway.

I'm loving this MGM color now though and don't regret it all. The gray complements the black flares on the off road really well versus the blue and the black wheels I am about to put on the truck looks better on gray over blue. I fell in love with the color.

The SR only comes in white, gray, black, silver, and red. The SR version looks the best in Gray though so I see why that is your preferred color choice.:p

As many others have said, go out of state then and a dealer will order you the exact configuration you want with no BS.

Many of us in Southern California go through the same shit with 4x4 tacos, myself included, especially since I wanted a manual transmission.

Go out of state, make it a mini vacation and enjoy the ride back.

In middle Tennessee, I went through hell and 8 dealers to find my truck- had to drive 100 miles away to get it at a decent price....
Like the other said, all they want to do is sell you what they have on the lot- I tried to get them to find what I wanted and they stopped trying to help me....

Have you tried ordering through other lots? That one just isn't motivated to work with you. I knew no lot would have a truck as bare as I wanted so I walked in with the printout from the build I made online. Salesman didn't try to upsell me on anything, but I had enough paperwork in my hand he knew I was set on what I wanted. The online price for the same truck you want but with auto trans was 26,420. I a haggled him down to 25,850 (what he said was invoice). I did my research and everything I paid on top is required by law in my state 28,221 out the door. Like you, I don't have a spare $1,000 to throw around. Hope you can get what you want without too much more headache.

I got my none utility SR 4x4 5-Speed for 24,400, and that was in the Bay Area. I'd keep shopping for something in stock, maybe in another state. They took $1,500 off as well. Mine actually had some options.
