I want to turbo my 97 2RZ taco. She is completely stock front to back not one thing done to it and never been in a wreck. So my question is if money wasnt an issue where should I start. Essentially I want to do everything (necessary) else but the turbo and then BLAM turbo. She has about 194xxx on her, standard trans, rwd.

So for the taco enthusiasts out there, if you could start over where would you start :)

Depends what size turbo your plan on using and how much boost you plan to make with it. Also, what is your power goal?

Btw: turbo is so fun in these trucks.

Everything is up in the air. I have been looking at a bunch of different designs from alot of people custom making their own turbo set ups. I am down for that but like I said what should I do before I do all of that? Or what should I have ready for when I do that? I would like to be able to make between 10-25lbs of boost but would be up for suggestions. I would like the boost to start about 2k rpm in a perfect world.

Additionally has anyone heard about putting nitrous with the turbo system as well? Just thought about it right now but sounds fun too.

If your going to make that much boost a stand-alone would be a good idea. You may want to decide on that first and get it up and running before doing and turbo stuff. This way you can get youbturbo set up easily tuned once it’s installed. For the actual turbo parts, it’s just go for it. Once you tap the oil pan, you’re pretty committed and need to get it all installed

    Seems pretty optimistic to me.

Maybe @Torspd could comment on the strength of the internals. And they arent prime at your mileage.

I suspect you'll need a beefier driveline regardless. Clutch, trans, diff.

    Don't forget the old adage.

    Cheap, fast, reliable. Pick 2.

    Good luck!
