That is what all the old people in CA are doing. Pocketing 900-1.5M in cash, and moving Northwest, or Arizona, or Denver or Texas...or Florida..and living like kings..

My plan as well, though in my case it is MA to somewhere like NC/SC. In large part due to advancing age and that it will be damn tough if not impossible to keep my house on one income.

Yeah we lived in BackBay (Boston) and Providence for about 4 years. Seems so cheap to me, compared to LA. My cousin lives in Auburn, MA. Dirt cheap.

My mom lives in Raleigh. 10 min from downtown. 1 min from the mall. $550K house. 3 story, 11,000 sq feet of ridiculousness with a 5 car garage.

Personally I don't care about the house etc. I want land+ garage.

My friend in St Louis, has a 911 sq feet house attached to a 44,000 sq feet garage. Just a thing of beauty.

Attention anyone in Cali who's planning a move to Denver: it snows here. A lot. And there are tornados and floods in the summer, like every day. You won't like it. Texas and Arizona are nice.

And since this is a 3rd gen thread... what's the largest size tire I can install on a 3rd gen DCLB pre-runner without rubbing?

They go up there and smoke pot in their old age....

I have been there a few times. Friend of mine lives in a Denver neighborhood where they have hanger for planes attached to their house. He uses it to store his car collection. Not my cup of tea..but lot of CA people like it.

Boston in general is $$. Not sure if you ventured this way but I'm about 40 minutes south of Boston, East Bridgewater..suburb.

House is 1100 sq with 2/3 an acre, just the right size. I'd not mind a little bigger house but not night and day, being older and not having children..just 4 cats. One car garage but can't really use it for cars because the door is not very tall.

To me, a bigger house is just more housework for me every week and more shit to go wrong. That said I want a damn pool in any house I live in, finally got mine a few yrs ago.

Yeah it certainly isn't cheap. But I found it cheaper than West Coast. My friend had a beautiful house in Milton. Yeah I don't like having to do any more house cleaning than I already do. Actually always had HOA pool. Finally bought a house with a pool in it. Its very nice, but can live without the pool maintenance... Eh 1st world problems.

I have a 25x15 above ground. Other than the open and close, it is very little work. This spring was hard b/c I had to add about 3000 gallons to the pool (roughly a third of total) and high iron content ate up my chlorine. The open and close are several hours each but damned if I will pay a service $400 a pop for it.

Not too up on Milton prices but my grandparents lived in Quincy right next door for many years. And with 4 crazy cats my cleaning time is sufficient as is.

No pets allowed on my properties on land or on the road.... I am too much of a neat freak :D My cars/bikes are my pets. Enough British iron leaking oil, that I don't need pets :D

No Above ground here. I would LOVE a in ground hot tub next to the pool, but budget for toys eat up budget for house mods :D

I'd be a crazy cat guy if it was up to me. Totally. Like them better than people :)

And yes, needs before wants. Took a few yrs of saving plus me getting a second job to have a little play money..plus my wife was having surgery and getting the pool saved about $1000 in physical therapy costs not to mention time off from work for her. Much easier to walk out to the yard and hit the pool for that.

I have 255 / 75R17's and they don't rub with a 2 in lift... I think they would rub with any larger size.

Too late. That ship sailed years ago. That's why I left. I figure if I'm going to be in a place with bad traffic and full of bad drivers, Californians and Texans I might as well move to a place where I get paid well. Colorado pays nurses horribly and it aint cheap to live there anymore.

Montana sucks too! Stay far away! In all seriousness though house prices in Denver are going the way of Southern California too.

I was notn too far from there, camped in Westport a couple weeks ago.

I reckon some like the season changes. I'm not one. Too cold for me..

At risk of turning political, seems like sometimes I pay for many who don't want to work that now can stay home..haha
