Rock Auto has been getting better about offering USPS shipping. I got the plugs for my Golf delivered for $4 shipping in three days - like $15 cheaper total over the next cheapest source.
The only reason I ever buy from Amazon is if I'm too lazy to go find a Walmart. Jet.com was a pretty cool alternative for a while from Walmart but they rolled it into Walmart.com and trashed it. But the same people who complain about Amazon/Bezos are the same people too lazy to do 10 mins of research to find a better price.

Nice! That is reasonable for a shop effort, IMO.

If you are in New England come on over and I’ll change them out for you- no cost. Just pick up the Orem plugs from the dealer.

Do I need a torque wrench? I’ve always put on spark plugs by feel or hand tight and then wrench a quarterish turn right

My nissan has coil packs. I paid my mechanic to replace them. Our trucks just have spark plugs? Mine is only a couple months old and has 4k miles on it, so this was news to me. Spark plugs are not expensive. And it really isnt hard to do. If you dont want to do it yourself, ask around for the name of a local mechanic that wont butt fuck your wallet like the dealer is trying to do.

Some people are really good at knowing what a particular torque setting “feels like.”

I’m not that person. I only work on my own vehicles and to be fair, I do it only when I need to. So a torque wrench is for me.

Platinum plugs do contain a small amount of platinum at the end of the center electrode. It's only around 10 or 15 milligrams but it's there.

I've replaced spark plugs in my trucks twice since 2007. If you do it once a week, you probably don't need a torque wrench. I'm not that confident, so I just use one.

3rd gen Tacomas have coil packs. Coil packs are used, thus no need for a distributor.

Just curious. Any Toy Techs from a dealer on here. Wondering what the hourly rate is now.
A friend works for Chevy. The have a set hourly rate and always round up. Book says 1.5 the charge for 2...ect. I want to say the dealership is around $150. Just curious what the hourly rate is at Toyota now.
