To the OP, I can't speak for the automatic transmission as I own a manual, however my buddy at work owns a 16 Taco Auto and he loves it, no issues whatsoever, I have a 17 manual and I have no issues whatsoever, I truly feel like either one you can't go wrong it'll be just personal preference. Good luck with your decision. What's the worst that can happen, you don't like your truck and you end up trading it in after a year anyway.

Take a loooong, weekend test drive, over the river and through the woods, if you are considering an automatic. I have one and it is very, very far from ideal.

Was close to getting the gmc sierra elevation edition v8 in a 4x4, they just wouldn't discount it enough. I will say it was a beautiful truck and very fun to drive. Would have been a bitch to park it in all of the hospital parking garages in Orlando I frequently visit. Still love my manual trd off road.

It's true. You are not included in that generalization.

Your floor mats are probably faulty. I don't get what happened. Did you buy a knockoff? I think you bought a knockoff. Someone sold you a Chinese one.

How about letting the OP make his own mind up with his own test drives. Too much noise and opinion on this site already. If I were a new buyer and went off what is listed here, I wouldn't bother pulling into a Toyota dealership.

I drove multiple trucks, both 2nd and 3rd gens for 3 months before I decided.

I agree that no dealer is going to let you go nuts with a test drive but if you are a serious buyer they will try to help, my dealer pulled 1 right off the lot and gave it to me for a test drive on a Wednesday and they asked that I have it back at the end of the day Friday.

This can actually help the salesperson. By letting a potential buyer take the car home, the buyer begins to feel ownership of the vehicle. When it comes time to return the car, the customer feels the impending loss and will be more likely to buy the car. Old psychology trick....

And if you don't like it, the truck is back on the lot before the sun goes down.

I drove two different ones and covered about 20 miles- tested on hills and on interstate. 2nd one came home with me and she is doing fine.
