None of the YouTubers have been allowed to tow anything or check mpgs or do anything useful. They just drive around and ooohh and awww over it.

Great point. Never question anything when someone is trying to sell you a new, unproven product. They would never lie!

    ffs this world is bonkers

Toyota seems to live in a vacuum and the top end Tacoma models are now competing with the Ranger Raptor and ZR2 Bison which seem much more distilled and hard-core on paper while the Tacoma just looks bloated and dragging around a hybrid motor nobody asked for.

So the only reason you think the 4g won’t be better is “Toyota says it’s better?”

Only thing that looks beefier is the frame compared to the old model.

Engine, I am skeptical. How much abuse can this little 4 banger turbo handle?

I know Honda with their 1.5T and even 2.0T's are blowing head gaskets at 40k miles with no mods at all.

Im 90% on the Tundra train at this point, but I’d be going with a relatively non-optioned TRD OR if I do get a Tacoma. But two frustrations for me -

    (1) the missing slider is a showstopper. Haven’t picked apart the packages, but unless it’s part of a token $600-1500 package the Tacoma is not for me. Need to carry 12’ boards at least 2-3x year. But again the new window doesn’t even look compatible with this task so there’s that.

    (2) we both know Toyota is going to make 200 base TRD ORs and option the rest to the moon.

Incorrect. I'm simply saying that all of this is conjecture until there is some empirical evidence to prove it is "better". You believe it wholesale since it comes from Toyota which I think is a little naive.

People take anything as fact these days without solid information backing it. Very sad IMO.

    (1) Maybe it's part of the "and more" on the upgrade package!

I want Toyota to fly me to the desert in Southern California, give me the keys to all three of these things, and some reasonable quality videography equipment, and I’ll publish a YouTube video giving my thoughts.

I’ve been told multiple times I’m not Toyota’s target audience, despite having owned more than 10 Toyota SUVs and trucks, including those I have bought for/given to family members.

Damn you’re right, they do say “and more”. Jesus. Not only does Toyota not do custom orders, you don’t even know exactly what you’re getting with their dumb aLlOcAtiOnS.

Based on all the specs and facts we know, it should do all of that. I’ll test drive to confirm but am not overly pessimistic

What? You don’t think Toyota would tell us if the product they are trying to sell is crap. :D

It's like all three of those trucks are midsize concepts from 25 years ago.

No idea who Toyota's target audience is, but it seems focused on 1st time Toyota owners. Not Toyota legacy customers.

It would be bad if there was no improvement on the seating position. Toyota keeps hyping that up, so if it isn't substantially better that would be a huge fail.

Everything I have seen so far suggests there has been improvement. TK video has mentioned this.

My dad complains about the passenger legroom. He has a 36" inseam so maybe he notices it more. I'm just a 34" so I don't find it uncomfortable.

I don't find it bad, it is different. I've only driven a RC, there isn't as much adjutment as far as reclining goes. I'd think an AC or DC would be better.

I cracked, put a deposit down on an allocation, underground 7544 with OF, stabilizers, all weather floor mats and mudguards, paying over MSRP, $56k. $39k for my trade, being built on the 18th, arriving late Dec/early Jan.

Our first victim! Kidding. Prepare your flame shields for the adjustment to MSRP, what is the 7544 trim (for us too lazy to look up)?

Me too...but everything is relative. Many of you drive automatic transmissions; I elected to purchase a manual transmission TRD Off Road, the real way to drive a vehicle!

Flame shields? I aint worried, I have $42k equity / cash down, so only financing the remaining $15k. Willing to pay to have my ideal 4th gen and one of the first. Is what it is.
