I wouldn't pay 47k for a sport. I feel like all these prices are jacked up so that it makes you think that 47k is actually a good deal, when in reality, it's not.

I'm sorry but prices have gotten out of hand for vehicles and it's not just toyota.

yeah I’d hard pass on a 58k Tacoma. Pricing on the premium package is ridiculous. Unless you’re married to the relatively compact size of the Tacoma a well optioned Tundra is a way better vehicle. Let Toyota and the dealers play their game for a year then pounce.

Yea, at these prices, I think a whole bunch of people might be looking elsewhere.

Got my first Tacoma in 1999. My current 2020 TRD Sport is my 10th one, all bought brand new. I had planned on a 2024 but Toyota has dropped the ball so badly this time that by the time you spec and get what you really want, the 25's will be coming out. That said, even with resale on my 2020, Toyota has lost it. I feel this will largely hurt their customer base. Many folk's SIMPLY will not be able to afford these trucks, and that's pretty sad. For $52 grand and change they will not see me buy my 11th one. Perhaps 2 RAV 4's in my garage come 2025.

58 grand and still has the 8 inch touch screen, guess the price will easily exceed 60 to get the larger one.

Good point. That spec sheet is totally fake. “8-inch touchscreen” - look up the specs on the 4th gen, the base screen is 8”, but the TRD trims get the bigger, like 14” screen. Also it says the JBL audio only has 6 speakers including sub?? That’s BS. I call BS on this spec sheet. Wrong info…

Don’t believe every spec sheet posted on the internet. These types of sheets aren’t even out yet.

My local dealer is discounting Tundras (not hybrids) 3-4K before any negotiation. Buying a Tacoma in 2024 is just not a good idea unless you absolutely have to have it.

I see nothing about that quote that suggests fake. Base at 42,600; 9K premium package upgrade; 3K roof rack; other add ons and destination fee get you past 55K easy peasy. Insanely expensive for a midsize truck that only gets 20 MPG.

Everything about that spec sheet is fake. Some simple googling is all you need to do. E.G….the JBL stereo has 10 speakers, not 6. And no taco, except maybe the limited, had “leather” seats - they are Softex.
If this was an actually Toyota-sourced spec-sheet, it wouldn’t have blatant spec errors. Maybe a dealer cooked this up trying to make it look official.

They botched the pricing and content mix of the 2.4T’s and we still have no idea how much higher the hybrid prices will go, making it a good time for people to sit on their hands with these trucks. Toyota is committed to running two full plants for max production, so once they start stacking up on dealer lots, markups will magically reverse to significant incentives.

Decent truck, but nobody should be in a rush to be the first in line to get hammered by Toyota, the dirty distributor, and dealer all at once.

Regardless, the price of a fully-optioned Sport with destination charge will exceed 54K.

True, it probably will. Like almost all fully-optioned out vehicles nowadays. Hell, a fully-optioned full size would be like $80K

The truth is, they won’t sit on lots. They’ll sell every one they build. People are already lining up to drop deposits and buy the 4th gen.

That lasted about a year for the new Tundra. For some reason people love to be the first to own something brand new, makes no sense to me.

I don't mean to fan the flames anymore but the other thing that disturbs me about that spec sheet is $3 grand for a roof rack. I don't think you could even option a roof rack through Toyota on the 3rd gen and I don't think one could get a gold plated roof rack system from Thule or Yakima that would cost $3k. Louisville Toyota also seems to have a decent reputation based on my poor internet sleuthing. The OP may want to double check through a secondary route (direct phone call or a different salesperson) that they really want to sell a TRD Sport to him for $60 grand. If so, I would tell them that I'd rather go order 2 nicely optioned Ford Mavericks. Having 2 should make up for any reliability deficit at that price.

    - I was mistaken. You could get a factory roof rack for the 3rd gen. For $400.

I was just watching a video on Tundra sales, was only running around 10,000 per month average, not very substantial for a fairly new model.

I stepped outta that line and got a ‘23 Limited Nightshade for $45k and change. Oddly enough, I don’t feel envious, left out, picked on or part of the underclass.

if this is accurate, the value of my used 3G will be very good.

Absolutely, initially at least. You have to first clear out all the TRD Jon’s. Later next year, we see if demand resistance to 50-60k Tacoma’s collides with sky high production schedules. With these prices, you really gotta wait and see.

Value is a trait that traditional Toyota buyers typically expect almost as much as reliability. Judging by widespread reaction from current owners, Toyota really mucked that up. Revealing hybrid, Pro, & TH prices in a couple months is only going to toss kerosene onto that narrative.
