I don’t know if you are being sarcastic or not. Hard to tell when reading a post. That was my intention in the first place. To give everyone an idea where pricing is going with the 4th Gen.

No sarcasm and genuine appreciation. I digest all the information I get on TW and make my own decisions on what and when to buy and what to Mod. I believe most on TW feel the same way. Truly, thanks again for posting the price sheet.

The funny thing is that Sheldon (Brown?) said they "polled people about what they wanted/what they used their AC truck for" and found that people "just want to throw gear in the back" and "doors weren't really necessary." Paraphrasing here. I wonder if anyone at ToyotaWorld actually believes this. What about dogs? What about the physical act of adding and removing said gear and pets? Doors help immensely! thought killing the AC was a bad idea and the way tthey configured the rear seat deck makes it even worse.

Looked like typical dealer horseshit price gouging to me. Most salespeople get some of the specs wrong, as they could give two shits about the nitty gritty (unlike fan boys) like number of speakers, or saying leather trimmed instead of softex. Most manufacturers don’t use real leather anyway, and “leather trimmed” is just a generic term for leather, or the side bolsters are leather and the middle is synthetic. More marketing lingo than anything.

Even with the added on nonsense, the 4G is a bit spendy. All those people crying for years that it didn’t have enough tech, well there you go! And it’s gonna cost ya!

That is the problem with polls, only get a small fraction of the bigger picture. Polls are usually wrong.

Their storage solution wouldn’t be too terrible if it didn’t have the built in tool box and kept the area totally flat. I hang out with a bunch of engineers, sometimes they miss the common sense stuff. Too busy playing with the numbers. They’ll argue over carbon content in tires, but won’t actually go out in the field and test it themselves.

Oh well, skipped over the 2nd Gen, probably do the same with the 4th.

I recently watched a video where Toyota explained why the dropped the Access Cab....Not sure I understand their reasoning. My 2016 - Access Cab - Sport -with a MANUAL Transmission and 6 foot bed is just what I need. I have become convinced that I will be keeping my existing truck for a very long time. Considering the pricing for the new models - I can rebuild/replace everything on the existing truck and save a lot of money. Now I await the new 4Runner - I love my 2018 Runner, don't get me wrong...Clay

Toyota/dealer doesn't care buy or dont buy some else will...Since covid, most car companies switched to limited production to keep supply low..Happy hunting for that "deal"

Man, I though these truck were over priced in 2016, when I bought my Sport DCSB MT w/o the silly packages for ~32 (think $31,400 OTD). Guess I cannot complain, as I still bought it. No way am I spending that money to replace it, I need a lot more truck for those prices.

The truck is still crazy expensive without the add ons. Most of it shouldn’t even be considered add ons anyways. They are basic items that come on almost every vehicle other than a cheap econobox.

    $41k for a Tacoma :rofl::rofl: Sorry, but I won't be purchasing another.

Wifeys Subie 2019 - ~27k in 2018 today on Subies website exact same model type with a lot of improvements, ~30k. I think these trucks grew up too much as I mentioned 31K was on the high end. Can I afford it yup, but no longer worth the money.

Yeah at these price points people will be better off getting a full size that has more power, more room, more towing capacity, more payload capacity, and the exact same MPG.

I can't believe the 5.0 V8 in the F150 gets the exact same MPG as this FI 4 cylinder. It's laughably bad how mediocre the MPG is.

Also isn't this supposed to be on the new TNGA platform that is shared by numerous vehicles to reduce costs? I guess those reduced costs won't be passed onto the end consumer.

Had to make an emergency trip to the vet this morning. Pet carrier fits perfect in the AC, trying to fit in the extra cab is a pain and awkward, (literally since I herniated a disc a few years ago) Wife is driving the ‘99, has a load of books for school (again) I have to help her load it, and she has to have one of the students help her unload it. She doesn’t need to do that when she takes the ‘21.

Guess engineers know what is best for us, right??? Hard to tell if there are going to be a bunch of AC trade-ins when the ‘24 hits, or are people going to hang on to them. Thinking I need to hang onto my ‘21 as long as possible.

    I think I’d be paying more than $41k for a full-size

An F150 XLT starts at $41k, the XL starts at $33k.

Ram 1500 classic starts at $32k.

    GMC Sierra starts at $37k.

    Silverado starts at $36k.

The 2024 Tundra starts at $39k.

Hell you can get an F150 Lightning Pro for $52k right now off the lot today. You get a $7500 EV tax credit, so real price is $45k.

    $45k Lightning gets 462hp/775 lb/ft and 70 MPGe
$45k gets Tacoma TRD Sport 278hp/317 lb/ft and 20 MPG. Hmmm.....

That was even more apparent with 3rd Gen V6. Almost went for the F150 when I bought. Some days wish I did, have been a loyal Toyota owner for too long I guess. Now that they killed the AC, not sure I want to get rid of mine.

Exactly! This guys gets it. I like my Tacoma, been a great truck. But I can get a Ford, Ram :puke: , or Chevy 1500 - for not much more. Better equipped, same MPG, more room, more towing, hauling etc... I think Toyota missed the mark, but the sales will prove me right or wrong. :notsure:

Tons of Bros and Fan Boys will still buy Tacomas because it’s cool not because it’s financially smart. I think Toyota is catering primarily to that crowd of young males. It seems like a stupid amount of money to spend on a midsize truck.
