My fiancee's dad once said, "Opinions are like a**holes. Everyone's got one, and they all stink."

I ment to bitch about in my other post. Toyota never built the 3G I wanted, basicly I wanted a SR SX access cab with a rear locker, or a trail edition AC. Toyota did neither, what Toyota did was axed the SX pkg from the SR. The SR5 SX is still a great truck.

Yep, the SR SX with a locker would have been perfect. Couldn’t get exactly what I wanted either, wanted a manual too, but oh well. Turns out I like the auto, also realized don’t really need a locker either. My 1G has one and used it only a handful of times, the auto LSD works well enough for what I do.

My ‘99 1st Gen TRD was nearly top of the line when I bought it, my SR has more options on it than it does. Other than the locker. Which could be added if you truly needed it, most don’t.

Base prices for the trims are fair considering the improvements. That $8500 TRD package is a complete joke though. Also the fact you have to spend to get a sliding rear window tells a lot of what’s going on with Toyota.

Most don't need a locker, I'll probably never use one.
I don't think inflation can explain this one. Jr cheeseburger at Wendy's is $250, they was $1 in 2020. That's 150% mark up, that ain't inflation. If that's the cost of doing business that's one thing, but inflation?

Toyota has always been like that though, couldn’t get the exact options I wanted either in the trim I wanted. Never cared for how they bundled packages. Ford does it somewhat better, but not by much.

As they say it is what it is, have to make compromises or willing to pay through the nose.

And honestly, do we really need all this tech stuff!? Just goes to show how many soft handed Nancys are buying this things by how Toyota is catering to them. We all could get by with the base SR trim. Hell i do, don’t use most of the frills on mine. Most of the time I don’t even even turn on the stereo or whatever that thing is called now.

the auto lsd is great, works when you need it, like in the snow and ice. No stopping to engage it or limited speed…it just works.

don’t wheel my truck, save the stupid shit for the dirt bike.

The one argument to this, however, is that automobile drivers in general (starting with Ford Model T, 115 yrs ago) can be regarded as "soft handed Nancys" when compare to people who walked and rode horses back then. "You use that auto thing with wheels? That's weak! We still ride horses and do things the hard way!"

If you think about it, the word "tech" has to do with automation, and the word automobile begins with the prefix "auto."

Some developed nations are still using mules. Wasn't long ago I saw footage of refugees evacuating a war zone on mule drawn carts.

I’ve only used the locker in my truck a couple of times when stuck in deep snow parking for ice fishing. It saved me from having to shovel. I don’t think the locker in my wife’s 4Runner has ever been activated.

It's all EV and autonomous driving over here. What are the societal advantages, when a mule and a cart can get the job done?

Wasn't long ago I got stuck in a vehicle with out a rear locker. Both rear wheels went off the pavement. The tires where against the asphalt, and would not get traction. I think a locker would have got me back on the pavement. If there was any kind of weight in the back I probably wouldn't have got stuck.

Nope, but I have seen reviews and don’t have reason to believe this truck is worse than previous year trucks. Do you?

    true true!

kinda making fun of myself too, as I no longer shovel concrete for a living. ;)

Taco is mainly getting my ass back and forth to the shop and hauling “lifestyle” toys.

I sure as well hope it will be a better truck, especially for more money on silly features. But no, I will not take some YouTube dipshits word that tows betters, rides better, etc... I have no realistic way to say if it is better or not. On basic released by Toyota (not interweb dipshit) it does not scream better.

I drove a used OR w/ ~30k miles 2015, then my truck (2017) back to back so I had a very decent comparison. Very similar, however the dealer was willing to work on the price of the New 2017 for and only ~3k more than the used 2015. I do not want to pay for just to have android/I phone connectivity, do give a rats ass about a 14" screen, so these "tech features" are not worth spending money to me.

Overall, your taking Toyotas or YouTube dipshits word that the 4th gen will be in fact be better, without actually knowing yourself, go it.

On the basic info we have from Toyota, it will do a whole lot of things better. I don’t see how you come to any other conclusion.
