Everyone has good suggestions, just find out what works best for you. I have found out with people who are older the best way for them to lose weight is exercise and some portion control. Instead of three helpings of Mashed potatoes and gravy have 1. Also stretch, stretch, stretch. Might sound weird for you rednecks but some yoga does a body good. Good luck and keep us posted.

    thanks.

If you already have a road bike or a bike with slick tires, I would pick up a trainer. It holds up your bike's back wheel and then applies resistance to the tire or rim.

I ran 3.5 miles this afternoon. I'm training for a 1/2 marathon and I'm only in week 2. I have a long way to go!

Thanks. All I have right now is a mountain bike with knobby tires. I tried a trainer before and might have to consider it again...

I was execting a phone call and my ass wasn't ready for a bicycle ride today. I did the wii fit today instead. 25 minutes of "cardio" (I at least broke a sweat) and another 20 minutes of wii "yoga"

The yoga really helps with stretching and does work out various muscles that I didn't know I had.

If you have wheels with a breaking surface, you can always get one of these trainers

Interesting...I have never seen a Rim Drive one before. I was gonna suggest putting slick tires on her mountain bike.

If you plan on doing mountain biking and want to do some indoor training, it is easier to get a rim trainer or an extra wheel, cassette, tire and tube.

Getting the extra wheel and a basic trainer might be a cheaper option than going for the rim trainer.

You'd be looking at an extra $80 for the complete wheel.
