I would like to close the tonneau cover with the tailgate up

I have a 2022 Tacoma, Sport with Access Cab. I have an Access brand roll up cover that does not fit well due to the tapering of the bed near the tailgate, so there is a gap between railing and bed. Is there a brand that has a railing that will accommodate the tapering? In addition, I would like to close the cover with the tailgate up. Suggestions?

 

I have a Roll n Lock on my 19. It’s expensive don’t get me wrong but it’ll close, tailgate up or down, and when both are closed it has metal hooks that engage the tailgate so if you lock the cover the tailgate can’t be opened either.

The top is also vinyl but under the vinyl is a metal, kind of like a roll up door that you see on a warehouse loading dock. When it’s closed and locked your stuff is just as secure as being in the cab, if not more by having no glass. Plus as a bonus it makes our easily stolen tailgates no longer vulnerable.

Pictures. I have seen many with Access roll up an none had you problem you are describing. You sure that cover is for 3rd gen, not a 2nd gen. Boxes/beds are different.

 

I think you can do this with the Lomax since it snaps into the side of the bed/rails when closed. They make covers for both the short and long beds.
