I just ordered the reg cab 4x4 w/ auto to get the option of having bucket seats. Should be in within the next ten days. $21340+ tax and title.

Congrats, that what I would get if I was in the market for a new Taco.
I really like the bucket seats and auto in my 2002.
    What color is it?

That's what I'd have gotten if it was available last fall.
FWIW - In Canada, the combined mileage rating is 27mpg for the 4 cyl, 24mpg for the 4 cyl. Considering I average under 20, and my 2009 4 cyl 5speed averaged 25 mpg, I'd happily pocket the $100+ gas savings a month with the 4.

    ...
how does the auto do with the 2.7L? Does the tranny hunt for gears on the hills?
    I get 20mpg with my 1st gen auto. I used to have a 1st gen v6 5 speed and got 22.

FWIW - My mileage quote of 25 mpg was Imperial gallons, so very close to your 20 mpg, 21ish actually. Congrats and enjoy the truck!

I have a 2010 regular cab 4x4 with the manual and bucket seat, I saw a local dealer has a 2011 regular cab 4x4 with auto which is what I wanted when I bought the 2010. I might take a trip and see how much of a hit it would take to trade in the 2010..........

I wish that option would have been available when I got my '09. I really wanted to have 4wd but there was no 4 banger auto 4wd option at the time so I went 2wd.

I drive a 2010 Std 4x2 I4 auto. My commutes are mostly interstate, lotsa hills. The engine/tranny combo work very well. The 4 has enough high end torque that it is not gonna do a lot of seeking at highway speeds or better. On upgrades of a couple of miles the taco will hold speed (75+) without downshifting. Previous trucks w/ 4 or 5 speed manuals and 4 cyl. woud feel really bogged down, or require a downshift to avoid losing speed.

About the only time I have seen seeking is at low (10-30 mph ) on some of the hills close to home. This is the first vehicle with an auto that I have used as a daily driver in way over 20 yrs. My left knee is grateful for the auto when I hit slow/ stop n go on the ride to work. I sacrifice 1 mpg for the auto over manual. It's worth it,

sk205, what kind of mpg are you seeing with your interstate driving and at what average speeds?

I'm also enjoying the 4 cylinder 4x4 auto. Fantastic truck with good MPG. 20-21 in snowy winter and 23-25 in warmer weather. The bucket seats are very comfortable, too.
