I would snuggle with this engine if it wasn’t already snuggling with the frame and body.

Get the V6. I4 will save some money up front but nobody wants them so much harder to sell should you ever need to.

It’s also actually worse on gas than the V6 because it has to work so hard in a truck doing truck things.

It’s one of those does everything, sucks at everything motors.

Toyota pretty much only makes them for the fleet buyer, like Orkin. Makes sense for them cause cheap to buy, no towing, light loads and only pavement.

AC I-4 5m is a perfect fit for me but I don’t tow. I do however carry loads and it does just fine getting superb mileage even loaded down. Suit yourself.

I wish I had gotten a Access Cab Long Bed. I don't tend to use the back seats as much as I had originally had thought I would. The extra bed length would be nice.

Get the V6, pull two of the coil packs and only reattach them when you need the extra power.

Do I need to worry about rust on the frames of the 3rd gens ? I know I posted under 3rd gen, but where do I look for frame rot on the 2nd gens? Thanks for all the opinions/answers so far

I daily drive mine so I prefer the V6 but if I wanted a apocalypse truck, it would be a 4 cylinder manual access can with some really low gears.

The question is what are you gonna do with your taco if your going big tires and lift route then v6 for the power but fuel mileage will suck if your going to level it and all terrain tires then go with 4banger and try to get whatever gas mileage you can

Untill you put 285/75 on it then power goes out the window so does gas mileage
