As title says, looking for some assistance, yesterday I had to replace oem battery with regular auto part battery. Did my search around to get best price but completely forgot to ask if battery was sealed or serviceable?

It seems sealed but not sure:

    Thanks!

What do you mean by serviceable?

I mean that it can be opened to add water. In the past I’ve had, on other cars, sealed batteries so no need to do nothing with it. But not sure on this one..

If it was serviceable... then there would be caps for the cells.... typically there would be 8 cells/holes and 2 caps that cover them. You could add distilled water and extend the life of the battery. The stock Tacoma battery has none of that. They last between 6 months and 5 years (most die around 2 or 3 year mark).

6 cells, 3 per side, 2.1 volts per cell.

My factory battery is serviceable and still going strong.

my oem one had caps on both sides to add water. I did added some destiled water about 2 weeks ago. But it seems that it was too late.. what is weird is that water levels weren’t that low… I used a syringe to add water… not sure if I helped it to go out sooner by adding the water… it lasted 3 years here in south FL.

As long as the plates were submerged in water, then you hadn't dried it out yet. At the same time the capacity of the plates do wear down over time even with normal water levels.

I’m on my 3rd battery. 2016, south Florida. Heat here kills them.
