Went wheeling for the 4th of July weekend, very dusty, following behind people for MILES.

First day and before no issues, setup camp, sleep through the night, no issues. turn truck on the next day and the truck starts, jumps to 500 rpms, and then dies.

Only way I found to fix it was go to 3000 rpms while in park, then shift to drive, and after that it idles around 500 and slowly climbs until normal again.

Now that I'm in lower altitude and clean air, it still goes to 500 rpms but it stays and doesn't die.

After doing research on TW, I think it's the IAC valve, am I correct in this thinking?

Spark plugs good, alternator good, battery good, fuel good, starter good, runs great but has issues when starting.

Have you checked the engine air filter?

Not clean but not dirty. I cleaned it as soon as the issues arose and nothing improved. Might buy a new filter and see if that helps since I need a new anyways. Even ran it without the filter and nothing changed.

No codes but I don't have access to any of the fancy readers that tell you EVERYTHING. I might need to find someone who can lend me one because you can apparently read what the IAC valve is doing with one

Get a can of MAF cleaner and clean the MAF before you jump into it.
