Ice Cap/Super White/Super White II can we get some positive news

Purchased a 2023 off-road thinking it was the ice cap color. Looks like it is actually super white II. What has your positive experience been? I have seen many let’s see your super white Tacoma or the super white paint problem thread. Any positive news for the super white/ ice cap owners. Also does your vin start with 3 or 5? Thanks for the input.

 

On Facebook with others commenting about white peeling someone with a 2022 Tacoma already had peeling. Not really what you are looking for, but this isn't something that has been fixed or solved.

 

Any idea what their outcome has been.

 

I did a rough calculation by total number and paint color popularity and cam up with around 500K white Tacomas since 2016. Don't you think, if there were a real problem, that there would be 10s of thousands of posts?
I have a 21 white with zero issues.

White and black are the most popular colors in vehicle paint. Overall, white is the color of about 30% of vehicles. If you extrapolate that to Tacoma, that is about 500K vehicles. If even a fraction of 500K was having an issue it would be a viral trending topic. I have zero worries.

 

I have a 2020 Super White, got it used a year ago. No issues so far, truck is parked outside in the desert Sun/heat. I did put ceramic coating on it though.

2019 and mine is still white.

 

2020 with a vin starting with a 5 and zero issues so far. It would seem that the vehicles that are exhibiting that issue are the one’s starting with a 3. No amount of waxing and washing will prevent the flaking and or peeling. It’s a bonding to the primer issue. Other manufacturers have had this issue as well.

First white vehicle I have ever owned. When I purchased I had a choice of black or white. Was not going to do black.

White has been a pleasure to own and keep clean. Hides the light scratches from off roading well. So far I’ve been very satisfied with my stock, 040 Tacoma. I regularly wash the truck and apply a express spray wax whenever possible. I do a clay bar and cheap ceramic spray wax once a year.

As a family who enjoys doing a lot of exploring and foraging we love this truck!

 

5 looks like it was made in the USA. Looks like my 2023 starts with a 3… hope mine holds up as well as yours! By the way nice looking truck.

 

my 1993 mr2 is super white II... it held up ok for 30 years if that helps any..

 

My 2020 Super White (040) has no random peeling issues. The one thing I will say is, my fender was struck with a baseball. The paint flakes off instantly where the ball hit. The paint flakes seemed(to my calibrated eye) to be thinner than other paint that I’ve seen flake. The bad part is, it took the primer too.

After seeing so many trucks with this color peel, I have nothing positive to say about Super white II.

What I've heard/read is this color is a single stage from the factory. Instead of base + clear coat like most colors.
