So flash back to before my race in Dec 2017...

Finally got the suspension installed so we brought it out to our local offroad park for some testing and shock tuning! My buddy Matt who has been helping to build and fabricate also drove us around since he's used to racing King of the Hammers...he showed us my trucks full potential haha.

We went to Ram a few times over the course of a week or two to get some practice and testing in. Here is a video of me and my codriver working on "blind driving". The guys set up a cone course and I drove with my eyes closed. Feel free to laugh lol

You’re correct! :D Where did you see us at?

Last weekend we attended our first sanctioned race with Bonneville Offroad Racing at the Jackpot 250 in Jackpot Nevada. We had a great time staying at the Cactus Pete hotel and casino. The buffet there was amazing.

Started the journey with Chick Fil A

Prerunning day, our pit area set up.

    1FF85A6F-4E7B-4EC7-9CE6-EB1688FFEDB6.jpg

Prerunning started good. We got our LeadNav up and running which was extremely helpful. We ran into a new problem a little ways in. We kept losing power to our Switch Pro which ties into the fuel pump. Needless to say I got plenty of practice learning how to pull over off the course. Lol

There was a god awful rocky section called Easy Street, rattles your teeth out. Lol Part of the course also traveled across what used to be a train track. So there was this section that crossed over a canyon that was only just wide enough for one vehicle, with added woops on it lol, so I made sure we took that a little slower.

This area normally didn’t get much rain but they got hit pretty hard the week prior. We reached a literal mud bog on the course. We stopped and looked at each other like “seriously? Lol” threw it in 4WD and charged through. I guess another car ended up getting stuck till 1am after is so they rerouted the course lol.

Other than that there was a mix of lava rock, forests, big hills, plains, so it kept the course interesting.

This photo we pulled off to check on a few rattles but otherwise all was fine.
    A704227C-C2ED-43C9-BFC4-4B6BBE0511CA.jpg

After the prerun lap we went back to check on our power loss issue. Luckily it was an easy fix. The bolt holding the main power cable to the Switch Pro was just a tiny bit loose. Tightened it back up and didn’t have an issue since.

Stay tuned for part two as I get it typed up. I don’t want to lose my progress! Haha

No supercharger yet but I may have one in the works :spy:

The Ivan Stewart Tundra? Technically yes, we didn’t want to but the deal on the red tundra was too good to pass up. Plus it tows loads better, can’t even feel the race truck, and has space for days.

But we sold the black tundra to a good friend and it’s still chugging along. It’s being used to tow a camper. I’m sure it has over 300k miles on it by now. He loves it.

Awesome! That’s too bad you couldn’t make this one. I plan on getting out to the Knolls race. Wendover is questionable since I have a few other events around it which may take up my days off.

Er mah gerd I’ve been spotted!

We ended up taking home a win at the Knolls race! 120 miles and 100+ temps so it was brutal but fun! The sand dunes were a blast and all I can say is thank you for 4wd because we were wearing in and out of other cars! Lol Aldo has my first experience with a pit crew, since it’s just me and my dad. We pulled into the pit at the end of lap two and went to get out when the team next to us sprung into action. They started looking over everything and even provided water bottles with bendy straws lol. Felt like a spa day.

Had an issue with my transmission cooler/fan not turning on so we direct wired it. Temp light popped on once but it went away shortly after. I also lost 4low before the race but somehow 4wd kept going until I completed my laps. I did hit one bump a bit too hard and lawn darted, shout out to Necksgen neck restraints on that one!

Other than that it was a great race! I did a mini drag race with a class 9 who was trying to make a pass in the dunes while we were both going 10mph  and there was a class 1 who would pass me like I wasn’t even moving. Mind blowing fast car. Driving on the lakebed was pretty awesome too!

    Here’s some more pictures.

I’ll get a pic this weekend of it! I did the URD upgraded tensioner to it as well. I also need to do the 7th injector to it but its vastly improved the truck. Acceleration is instant. I even made it up one of the giant sand dunes in Sand Hollow that I couldn’t get up before. Gas pedal is sensitive now and it’s fun.
