    Got some ice today. 2018 limited. Foot on the firewall in 2wd jerking the steering wheel back and forth. Remarkably stable just no acceleration. Repeat in 4wd. No yaw. Straight as an arrow acceleration to speed. Impressive! Lots of yellow warning lights blinking then on solid. Got a real confidence boost for upcoming winter conditions.

    Had an 09. Doing about 60 on the freeway making a left on super-elevated curve. Water would run down sometimes from the high side and refreeze into black ice. It did that morning.
    By the time I could react (hold steering firmly, back off gas pedal), the traction control had already engaged and selectively applied the brakes. If it hadn't I would have spun out which would have been lots of fun there. I did lots of snow covered empty parking lot tests of the traction control. It was very hard to cause loss of control.

    I always used 4HI when there was snow/ice on the roads. If I needed to make a sharp curve, I just disengaged the 4HI before.
    That truck never had an issue outside of recalls/service programs.

    Just remember two very important things.
    1-Nothing on your Tacoma can help you stop on snow/ice/rain like you can on dry pavement.
    2-If you're accelerating, letting off the gas pedal suddenly is a form of braking when you're on slippery pavement.
