    Nice install.

I've never had a heat issue with the head unit under the seat. It gets plenty of airflow. It doesn't need constant air blowing across it like a radiator, just the cooling fins and the fan to be unobstructed.

OP, the only thing I might suggest is relocating the speaker. That seems like poor placement (I rest my foot there). I have had good luck with a speaker mounted on the transmission hump facing up, right behind the center console. Out of the way (unless you have a middle back seat passenger) and shoots the sound right up to your ears.

Top pic is speaker, bottom pic is the bottom of the rubberized mat with a junction box cover and velcro. The speaker is bolted through the mat to the junction box cover and the whole assembly just sits in place due to weight of the mat and backup assistance from the velcro to the carpet. This is my 4R but I've got the same thing going into my Taco this week for an Icom 2730.

This is a real solid idea. 99% of the time I have a dog shield backseat cover thingy that would muffle it though. I'm satisfied (not in love) with my location. In an ideal world, I'd get a skinny, long speaker that would fit in the charging cubby location. But I don't think I can justify buying a new speaker just for that. I'm maturing hahaha

My speaker is in the passenger footwell. The bracket for it is on an existing bolt behind it.

Sweet setup! I’m actually working on setting up myself with a GMRS currently. Just curious where you pulled your wires through the firewall, to hook up to the battery? Did you go through the large grommet that already has wires going through it, or go through the spare, preexisting grommet, just below?

Large grommet with all the other wires. I just took a knife and sliced it to make a slit just large enough to feed my wires through.

I'll have to take some pictures. 2 and 440, Yeasu, 220 Kenwood, 706MK2G Icom HF with screwdriver antenna (my favorite) Be aware it is addictive I have worked the world with the Icom mobile. Still a lot of fun even after 30+ years. All of the radios are under the 2 frount seats only the head units are in the cab.

Still waiting on the rj45 extender, and jeep ram mount for the mic, which will be to the right of the head unit.

took it for a drive today, not a huge fan of the magnets shaking.. went and bought some nylon spacers, washers and longer m2.5 and hard mounted it the same way.

I have been getting some popping when transmitting on high, I’m assuming it’s time for a agm battery upgrade.
