Doing a leaf swap is actually easy enough to do in a driveway if you have a buddy to help lift the pack.

Hey guys... what’s the height difference with lift on a 3 leaf AAL and Dakar mediums? 1.5” vs. 2”? Also I’ve heard the CB drop and possible shims if going Dakars?

I had the 3 leaf AAL and needed shims. I installed the Dakars and don't need shims but I did the CB drop. The Mediums will give you 2" if you are carrying a load of 300lbs constantly. My buddy had his installed with no weight added and he was sitting ass high but now it has settled in.

I have the heavy pack which supposedly can handle 600lbs but I have a camper shell and I sleep in the back. The leaf pack is sturdy as shit. While I was camping with my ICON AAL I was nearly riding my bumpstops when I was sleeping with me and my gf.

Oh man so If have no weight in the truck with Dakar mediums I’ll be over 2”?

Also what’s the likelihood of needing shims with the 3 leaf AAL?

Yes until they are settled in. After install you would be sitting like 3" or so higher so what you should do is carry around some sand bags or something to break the leafs in

I guess with 6112s at 5/6th notch at 2” it wouldn’t be that bad

    So 2” once settled?

How much front lift is needed to match the Dakars mediums

I would say that would be the ballpark. I am running 4/3 with 700lb springs with the Dakar Heavies in the back and I like the rake.

My friend did 3" in the front but with 5100s with some OME springs.

The rear is 1.5 inches higher than the front stock.

I personally found the OME fronts very clunky, they’re slightly shorter than the stock assembly iirc and didn’t impress me. Going over speed bumps was rough and they alsways topped out, off road they were no better. This time around I am going to try the eibach front setup from Toytec. I had fox 2.0 on my ford and they were really nice riding all around. Just wait, shortly ppl are going to tell you they suck and to get kings or icons...!

People will always say get Kings but I rode with my other friend who had them and couldnt tell any fucking difference in ride quality in comparison to my 6112s. High speed desert runs, sure I would recommend those high end RACING shocks but for majority of people who are weekend warriors will be fine with a mid tier setup.

So 6112s at 5/6 with Dakars mediums with no weight would then give me about a 2” rake? Or maybe back to stock rake once it all settles?
