Icon 3 leaf pack problem

    Did you add the 1/4" anti-lean top plate spacer on the driver side? If not you'll get more lean.

    I drilled my overload pin out, the BFH'd it off.

    No, I didn't add the spacer, the 6112s are adjustable, but they have to be taken out and all that BS. Might be something I'll have to do. The front doesn't have as bad of lean, only about a 1/4 inch high on the passenger side.

    Piggybacking off this thread as I just recently made a similar post.

    I ordered the ICON add-a-leaf for my 18 OR and I too noticed the center pin wasn't fully threaded.
    Better yet the instructions from icon state to keep the overload spring off, but without it how does the add-a-leaf produce any lift as the overload is almost the same thickness.

    Looks like you also got the wrong center pins. The AAL ads more arch to the spring pack to create the additional lift.

    Installed my icon AALs today. Same issue. I ended up re using the factory pin (it barely fit) I wanted to re use the overload springs for a little extra lift, but it only takes a few minutes (literally) to swap em back in. I was pretty irritated with icon for using a pin that has a really long shank and almost no thread. To make this pin work, you’d need 2-3 more leafs. Happy with the rest of my stage 2 kit, but I feel they messed up some where along the line when putting the AALs together.

    Facepalm to self.

    Right, if leaving the overloads out you reuse the factory pin. If leaving them in you use the new pin. Jack up the axle to compress the leafs before putting the nut on the center pin and you should have no problem with the OEM pin.

    When using the overload spring the icon supplied pin still wouldn’t work. My pic is showing the exposed shank with the overload spring installed. I had to remove it and use the factory pin.

    Yep, same exact problem I had, even with overload springs left in, the centering pin bolt that came with the kit was way to long and didn't have near enough threads. I had to go to the dealership and get new centering pins, $2.50 each, I tried my local Orielys and they would have had to order them in. The guy at the dealership said Napa usually has them in stock also. Seems like icon let out a bunch with this same issue

    Could always use a die and add threads, then cut the excess off.

    I pretty sure you can get a new free 3 leaf plus overload pack installed by aToyota TSB.

    Pretty sure Icon specifies to reuse the factory pin if removing the overloads. You use theirs if leaving them in.

    I used Allen head bolts on mine, done it on other packs as well, never an issue

    The lift is achieved by the arch of the add a leafs. You can use the overload for 1/2" of additional lift but the ride will be stiffer. Saying this from personal experience, I've ran it both ways.

    I dunno about that, the overload only comes into play if you’re hauling a lot of weight. If you’re hauling that much weight, the ride is pretty smooth. Unloaded, and the overload isn’t even affecting ride.

    As has been mentioned, removing the factory overload with these AALs results with 10% less payload capacity.

    I have this kit in the box waiting to install and stumbled upon this thread. I will be checking my center pin immediately!

    Not sure if the leafs are capable of being installed reverse or not, but instruction 6 states the longer end from the centering pin is to be facing the rear of the truck. Hopefully both of your add a leafs were installed with this orientation. If not, maybe this could be contributing to your different ride height issue?

    Yeah, negative on that one, the TSB is for 2005-2010 year models, had the dealership confirm that when I got my new centering pins.
