This thread was for the Icon AAL, the Wheeler's AAL is a different product. I had to cut my leaf pack clamps to get the Icon AAL in place, otherwise it would not have worked.

Interesting. When I installed mine they went right in. No need for cutting.

Mike are you sure that you installed your correctly? One side is longer then the other and I believe the longer side goes towards the rear

Deaver vs. Alcan isn't it? The Wheeler's ones are shorter if I recall correctly and they now offer an HD version.

Yep, longer side toward the rear. I have TSB leafs if it makes a difference.

If you put them on backwards you need to cut the OE leaf clamp and grind down the rivet. If you install them per the directions you do not need to cut.

Installing them backwards is "supposed" to stop axle wrap. I installed mine backwards and had to cut.

Here's what they looked like. The rear would have hit the rivit (rear is towards the right in the picture). The fronts were fine but I shaved them off anyways.

That's what I heard, but both vendors will be reluctant to tell anyone the truth.

As far as I know Wheelers was the first to introduce them for our trucks. I know when I was doing my research for mine no one had Icons nor had anyone even heard of them being offered.

HD version...?... I need to check that out. You can't beat Wheelers. He was the first to offer us an economical progressive AAL and bump stops. He has done more for the budget friendly then any suspension company ever has and that says a HELL OF ALLOT for a off road shop. Dan at Wheelers get's all my cash and will continue to.

whoops forgot to mention that...so do I

The HD version sounds promising and is fairly new. It wasn't around when I bought mine. If it had been, truth be told, I probably would have gone that route due to the loads I carry. I went with the Icon through DSM because of the free shipping and, at the time, everyone was saying they were very very similar anyways (which seems to be true).

I opted for the HD packs.. I don't really have anything to compare them too other than stock, but the ride is still comfortable.

    Well that makes a difference.

I noticed that mine were starting to rust on the edges the 2nd week they were on the truck. I was surprised about how quickly they begain to rust

Sounds good. I'm not bashing your product at all. I am ecstatic with my stage 1.5

Do you want me to send you photos?

I just installed my aal over the factory leaf clamps. Will this have a negative effect?

I just realized I did the same thing. My friend who's a mechanic was helping me so I kinda just followed his lead. It's been like this for 2 weeks and has been riding nice but I'm worried now.

Uh ohh.. Right there with ya with my FabTech Lead Pack. Only sits on the rear bracket. Couldnt tell if the rivet was even still there cause the cushion formed around it really well. Just nervous now that its gunna add extra stress to that top AAL. Had it on for a week and so far so good. Did some light offroading with it so far. Really impressed how it sits, I have it paired up with Eibach Pro Struts up front and in the rear. No weight in the back other than a Solidfold 2.0 cover.
