Either way, I like the idea! Worst case you loosen 2 bolts, slide them up and retighten, not the end of the world, I was just curious if they'd walk on their own. I like the ingenuity OMD

Pugga, I didnt drill the retaining clamps for the braket I drilled the bracket because the bolt that goes through the retaining clamps was too big to fit through the hole in the bracket the overload retaining clamp bolt had previously fit through.

The camper explains a lot... my rear feels stock with weight in the bed. Without weight it feels like an unloaded 1 ton in the back.

I know what you meant, sorry. What I meant was the bolt that held the brake line in place screwed right into the Icon AAL's retainer, no modification necessary. I'm not sure what happened to yours.

I've got a mid-rise shell, a plywood platform made from 3/4" marine grade plywood and 2x8's as cross supports and usually some tools. Before I had all that in there though, I didn't think it rode bad. I probably liked it though because before I got this AAL, my old leaf pack was sagged and the overload was part of my active leaf pack so it rode like crap.

I have the boss c/o up front came set at 2.5" and the wheelers 3 leaf with the overload in gave just a little over 2" in back. to me it rides great. its more firm than the stock set up but rides great. I left the overload in for just a little more lift and because it has the bracket for the brake cable.

Wish I found this thread before I installed my Icon AAL. Now I wish I left my overload in to get the extra little lift.

Just installed it tonight too. Still not 100% done.

Might put them back in when it gets a little warmer out. Bummer

I finished installing them and the front coil overs on Sunday night. Drove it about 100km so far and it's a much better ride then what I was on. Sits higher and feels softer of larger bumps and feels solid on smooth asphalt. All in all I am very happy so far.

Have to take it off road yet to judge it fully but on road it's definitely better.

I have the Wheeler's 3 leaf aal, which is essentially the same as the Icons, only cheaper. I do not have the overload leaf in. I have about 25k miles on them and they have been great. Nice ride and decent load carrying abilities. Attached is a pic of my truck carrying 1400 pounds of floor tile. It handled fine but I was riding on my bump stops all the way home; not sure if the addition of the overload leaf would have made any difference, though. I would recommend them (Icon or Wheeler's aal).

Will removing the overload leaf prevent the full 1.5" lift Icon advertises?

You get 1.5 without the overload. Keeping the overload gives you a bit more lift but the Icon instructions state to remove it.

    Too few to list.
I have the wheelers 3 leaf. I tried them with and without the overload leaf. The ride without is smooth and the ride with is a bit firmer. I haven't placed a load more than 500lbs so can't really comment on how it handles with or without the overloads. I can say that there is more flex without the overload but you do get the extra half inch with the overload.

I prefer the ride without the overload as I don't haul or tow much. If you do any kind of towing, I suggest leaving the overload leaf in.

Does anyone know what the towing limit is with the aal and no overload spring?

I believe the limits are the same independent of the springs. Many factors make up the towing limits. How much load can your bed take before it fully squats might be different question and dependent upon how worn out the spring pack is. I'm adding a SumoSpring to my AAL.
