I installed the AAL and took the over load out because of the instructions. I really wish I left them in. My leafs are sagging a bit and my ass end is not level with the front. Its super close with no load but any little load on it and its lower in the back end. And I hate that look.

I will be either buying a whole new leaf pack or installing the Overload Springs back in. Haven't decided if I want to spend the money on a whole new pack or not.

+1 on thinking about putting my overloads back in. I never really considered the lack of support when towing. I have a 3,200 lb camper that barely squatted the stock springs (2016 TRD Offroad Dcab Sbed). I haven't hooked up to it since I installed the Icon AAL (overloads removed). Now I am worried that it will squat the truck more. I guess I figured that with the added lift, you automatically get better tongue weight support. Too dark now, it'll have to wait till tomorrow.

Has anyone here had success with a single add-a-leaf from pre-TSB 3 spring pack installed post TSB replacement? I just had my recall completed and was about to reinstall the same add-a-leaf onto the new spring pack. It appears to be too long - the new spring pack has brackets with rivets at the end of each spring, and the add-a-leaf is long enough that it looks like it will overlap (or worse, just fit inside when flexed but butt into the bracket under load) the smallest spring's bracket/rivet.

Is my old add-a-leaf no good with the TSB spring pack?

Edit: a little more information, my add-a-leaf is 36.5" when I flatten it. The new TSB springs are exactly 36.5" between the brackets at the ends of the smallest spring when I flatten them. I'll be putting it back together stock and looking in this more carefully

I just installed a 3 leaf AAL(Wheeler's) this weekend on my taco. I had intended to keep the factory overload leafs, however I ran into the problem of the brackets on the overload and the AAL overlapping. Didn't want to deal with cutting the brackets, so I left the overloads out. My stock leafs are the 3+1 TSB leafs, now 3+3.

    Too few to list.
I ran into the same thing. You can just bend the brackets on the overloads to go over the Wheelers. I have seen other set ups with the overloads in and the brackets are not an issue. Must be Icon or Headstrong brand.

I'm either going back to single AAL, Sumo Springs or airbags as I find the multi leaf AAL's are a bit on the softer side.

The 3 leaf AAL installed without the factory overload leaf is a 10% loss in load capacity.

Not that this thread applies to me but how did you measure this or is it stated by icon?

I had the tsb leaf pack (3+1) then added the icon pack and retained the overload for a total of 6 leafs + overload. Even though i have about 500+lbs in bed at all times (camper, toolbox, tools) im still a little high for my liking. (Well don't think i can afford the 285 mpg's so sticking with 265's for now) Probably shouldn't remove overload from my current situation from what im reading. Anybody have thoughts on maybe removing tsb leaf for a little drop? Or should I just be stoked i get a decent ride with all my work crap

Here is a question. When I bought the truck (2012 dclb) it had 1" blocks under rear leafs. I'm currently adding the icon AAL kit. What are thoughts on removing the overload, adding the AAL kit and leaving the 1" blocks under them?

The overload isn't going to make the ride rougher since it should only come in to play when the truck is loaded down with weight. I did mine without the overload and it can be somewhat stiff with no weight in the bed I suppose, but not what I would consider rough, especially in comparison to just the stock leaf pack.

I have the HeadStrong Offroad version of this with the overload (with new 5100's) and it wasn't rough at all. that was with out my camper. I guess my next question is, do you have new or old rear shocks?

If I want to leave in the overload leaf, with my icon aal, do i need to remove the spring guides on the overload leaf? Just received mine recently and wondering if I need to cut off the guides on the overload? 2015 Tacoma with the 3 plus overload

I think the long part of the leaf pack goes aft...
I am also considering the Icon 3 leaf pack, need a bit of support for towing. Might even have to get some Timbrens.0F9ADD79-788E-43BE-99D6-D7C7A7F09F1A.jpgIt would appear that you would need to pull your overloads- looks like I have 2- and slide the Icons in and add the overloads beneath and bolt it up, kinda wondering if the U bolts will be long enough...

What brackets need to be cut to leave overload in looks like my factory ones are fine but the stock overload hits the icon one

    Like, so many.
I know this post is really old, but how does this set up manage with a RTT? Should I keep the overload in in this case?

Sorry man, I can't help. At the time I still had the 2007, it would have dealt with a RTT just fine. I had a fiberglass cap, a heavy plywood platform built in there and always had a lot of tools in the bed. I did keep the overload in though and it rode and drove very nice. I've since traded the Tacoma and now rocking a Ford 6.7 oil burner. Spring capacity is no longer an issue I have to deal with.
