Here’s a twist on this old discussion: I put my overloads back in and flipped them so they curve up and not down. Also put them between the second and third leafs instead of on the bottom so they’re kinda incorporated into the add a leaf. It’s super stiff. Really wish I could have just bought a new pack and called it a day.

That’s a good amount of weight. How is it now? Even or a little bit of rake?

I had an ICON stage 4 installed on my 2018 DCLB and within 2 months it's sagging. Stock springs are negative in curve ( Less than flat) and I don't carry any weight yet other than the camper shell. I'm pretty sure the ICON AAL is just crap, any other fix recommendations before buying a whole new set of packs 2 months after installing the lift? Thanks in advance.

Sumosprings https://www.supersprings.com/tacoma . I've had this combo for quite some time now with my camper + 3 Leaf progressive AAL.

Trippin, are you using the blue or black sumo springs? Do you ever tow any substantial weight?

Lastly, do you have a lift, and if so, do you use the spacers to keep the sumo springs in contact with the frame?

I installed the Blue sumo springs but with the saggy leaf pack the truck was constantly sitting on them.

I ended up removing the ICON AAL and stock packs and went with a heavy duty OME/ARB leaf pack. Sooooo much better and now I can actually load my truck.

Thanks. Are you still running the sumo springs with the OME leaf pack? And do you think the sumos are worth the money? Or are they a bandaid for soft springs?

Yes, I left them on since they're far more superior to the stock bump stops. I transported my motorcycle from NY to TN and they definitely gave me peace of mind. With the bike loaded the sumo springs was about an inch from the frame so they definitely were put to use on the bumps along the way. When the truck is empty there is roughly a 2-3" gap between the spring and frame for reference, keep in mind I'm lifted 3" in the rear as well.

I have the blue one. The most I’ve done is tow a car with a trailer and it was all good. I haven’t towed for awhile though. I was on the bump stop when I was towing but the ride wasn’t bad at all.
I’m lifted 2 inches all around. I opted not to use the spacer. Without any load The frame is about an inch away from the bump stops. But when I’m doing a road trip (luggages and bikes) I’m on the bump stop for the most part but again, when I do hit bumps and what not it’s not rough at all IMO.
I’ll upgrade to a HD leaf packs down the road but for now I’m still happy with the set up. I’d rather have the bump stops and not sag when loaded.

I just added a Wheeler’s progressive multi leaf AAL. The stock springs suck so badly. Likewise, I only have a Lier topper and I should be sitting just slightly higher than level with a tiny amount of positive rake with my 5100 lift up front. But I actually am slightly lower in the rear. Anything other than a full leaf pack is pretty worthless. 150 bucks for the wheeler’s was a good option as a cost saver, but it is certainly not optimal.

If I want to reinstall my overload spring do I put all the way at the bottom or up a couple leafs since it’s longer than the bottom icon leaf?2A5692C4-2E6D-4FBE-8825-C90D47AF28C1.jpg

Just wanted to add to this thread.

First time post here: 2018 TRD off road, added the AAL from icon and reincorporated the overload spring.

Didn't take before and after measurements but was a solid inch and a half perhaps more upon installation.

Attached are three photos one with no load in the bed a second with about 600 lb of granite. You can see the leaf springs go about flat at this weight.

*** I intend to add very thick anti friction pads both ends of each overload spring, such that they take up the thickness of the last add a leaf.
