Because they are extended travel CO's. The OEM ball joints cant handel the extra droop they give.

^^^This...you will brake your OEM UCA ball joints because of all the weight of the hub, spindle, new coil, ect...will all be on the ball joint of the UCA when the wheel is off the ground at full droop...

Its not the weight, as the LCA bears the weight of everything, but the range of motion the OEM ball joint allows.

Would you be able to use a set of aftermarket ball joint UCA's with these? Like the Light Racing or the Camburg ball joint UCA's?

Maybe the LR UCA's, but not the Camburgs, as they use stock ball joints. Even the LR UCA's might break.

    Build thread in sig...

yes, LR UCAs will work. i have LR and extended travel icons. i can jack the truck off the ground, take out the lower shock bolt at full drop and push down on the lower arm and get another inch out of downtravel. granted the CVs start binding at that point....
so yes, you can run them, and the shock will still be the limiting factor.

    Yes they are still availiable.

Thanks for all the bumps guys.
I am pretty sure this thread is for the Icon coilovers that I have for sale.
There are numerous threads Under "suspension"
where you guys can discuss Upper and lower control arms.

Camburgs ball joints are re-positioned to allow more travel, so they should work! Camburg told me they would work with their ext travel coilover and yield 10.5" of travel! Hope that's true!
