I agree, I am pretty disappointed, and honestly its probably more like 6k. I was thinking about when i ordered them in December, but i didn't install them until march.

Sucks OP, I have seen some discrepancies with Icon front and rear shocks with mixed results. I hope this can be handled accordingly as 6k is def still pretty fresh man.

<3<3<3<3 @90yota don't want you to miss out if there is an event.

Icon will deny everything. I would just switch to Kings and never look back.

As a fellow King advocate, lets see what Icon says before we just bail on the issue. At the same time, if you want some of the best out there from a progressive (soft at slow speeds, stiffer at faster speeds) feel then King is a strong answer. I want to be confident for you, but Icon has looked the other way before. Def let us know what they come back with.

I run 32's (265/75's) with the stock wheels on my 04 doublecab. I had 5100's on the middle setting and they rubbed on the rear frame a bit at full lock.

What are your old shocks you have that you kept?

You can probably run them. Will they rub? Probably. But it beats not being able to drive it at all.

The rebuild intervals on the shocks really depend on how much abuse they see. If you are out desert running every weekend, you'd probably want to rebuilt them annually, if not more often. The pros I'm sure rebuild theirs every weekend.

There are more threads dedicated to that subject, but from what I remember lurking around those threads before getting my Kings, annual rebuilds seemed pretty common for the guys who like to pound on their trucks. I just installed mine, so they haven't even seen dirt yet... :(

I've got about 6k on my icons so far and they've been great, knock on wood. I'm invested now so I'll rebuild them when it comes time.... but my taco isn't my DD so that helps.

    This.

Airing down is for traction, not shock longevity.

The problem with sustained high temps is that it tends to cook your oil, meaning you need to rebuild them more often, hence resi's with their higher oil volumes for better cooling.

Def some key info for the more aggressive off roader, but not sure if the OP fits the bill completely as he might be more of a recreational off roader. My guess would of been more to the 4-5 year mark or 50k before a rebuild.

I do light wheeling on the weekends mostly to get to a campsite, every once in a while I do some harder stuff. Overall, Im pretty easy on the truck. Most days it sees an 8 mile round trip work commute.

All you need to air down is a screwdriver and a cheap gauge to monitor the psi.

Yes they do, I just bought them from Headstrong last week. $990 for the pair (+ taxes). They're pretty affordable for 1st gens compared to other options.

For some of you that have used both Icon and King...
I currently have a set of Icons with 650bs coils. I recently got a deal on some used Kings that need a rebuild that I'm think of doing so and swapping out. I've heard that Kings ride a little smoother and also I would like to run 600lb coils with only having the weight of a 2.7L up front.
    What do you think?

Do you have a winch bumper? skids? thats the big thing that requires a bigger spring
