They're my tool for experimenting with valving and rebuilding myself. Nothing to lose ya know?

Have you opened them up yet? Curious how many metal shaving are in them? Every single one I have rebuilt had some in from manufacturing. Plus horrible QC or any clean up on the pistons and IPF's.

Yeah I've had both open a couple times. First time I had dark fluid that had the occasional sparkle to it, nothing too terrible but certainly not ideal. I flushed the main chamber out with brake cleaner and every change since then has come out pretty darn clean actually. I think initially they didn't flush the tube well after maching and that caused the first seal failure. But the piston and IFP both were very cleanly machined and neither were damaged. The tube was fine too hut all that grit needed to be flushed. I have no doubt they are inferior machining and initial production than any other brand but I think long term if you take care of the minor shaving issues they'd serve their purpose for a normal interval 30-40k.

Be sure to check your spam folder, I've had vendors fire me a return label without saying a word

Good luck getting it rebuilt....major PITA when you only have one vehicle....

I'm firmly in the camp of OME or Bilstein's is the best bet for a DD...rebuildable coilovers (Fox, King, FOA, Icon) don't hold up as well to the elements and mileage.

Just gotta expect race car maintenance for race car parts. The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long.

Three race karts and associated race maintenance in the garage....I think that's why I've got the KISS mentality on my truck...

I find when these coilovers go it's a slow failure usually so you have time to drive quite a bit longer and swap to your old equip. But yah I see what you mean my truck isn't a daily anymore. Luckily swapping a coilovers on these trucks is a 15mine job.

I still have my stock coilovers to swap when the time comes. and like you said 15 mins. I might just go pick up my dads harley for a few days to get around on and leave the truck on stands.....if he lets me take it.

These type of spacers are also good to keep around for these types of situations. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/6287271489.html (2nd gen but you get the idea)

You just install them right on top of the stock coilovers with no compression of the coils needed. That way you maintain the 3" lift still.

Do you know of any of these shops? I'm in the east bay. Just want to get a quote for how much it would cost.

Rocky road I believe in Sac is what most the NorCal guys go for. Otherwise I'm not too sure about east bay.

Update: sent my coilovers off last Wednesday, they received them Monday, rebuilt them both today under warranty, and sent them back today. New seals and shafts and the warranty is extended for another year. Overall Icon was great and quick. I did have to pay to ship there. That would be nice to be refunded since they did end up being under warranty.
