OK I have icon coilovers on my 99 prerunner set at around 3" of lift and they're pretty stiff riding. Especially since having a newborn, I'd like to smooth out my ride a bit while maintaining the lift I have. I've been reading a bit about progressive springs or even 2 seperate springs, one softer than the other but that seems I would loose my lift. Knowing icons are set up to be digressive, would a progressive spring counteract that? I know I have many options with the coilovers, valving spring rate etc just curious if anyone has experience modifying icons.

biggest reason why its rough is the digressive valving.

Dual rate i don't think will even fit on coilover stock size. Most don't start till 10'' coilovers.

Could get stiffer 16'' coils so not as much preload is on the coils. But really, getting a different valved coilover will be a better option..

or just live with it :p

That's what I figured about the dual rate. I've considered revalving them but I've never done anything like that before and I don't know if it'd be worth the effort. And if I did try a softer sprig or something like that and I loose lift I don't think I'll clear my tires lol.

im saying get a longer coil with a bit higher spring rate. Then you won't have to torque down the collars to precompress them as much. It'll help.

If there isn't a ton of miles on them, id just wait to have em rebuilt by icon and tell them you want them softer and they will change it for you when they rebuild them.
