First of all no special tools are needed to re-build our shocks. The only way that ours differ is that we use a charge port instead of a Schrader valve. Schrader valves work fine on race shocks that you re-build once a year but they are prone to leaking or even worse breaking off. We feel it is a better fit for OE replacement shocks to have a charge port as they should last you upwards of 75,000 miles and you do not have to worry about these issues. Any shop that knows anything about re-building shocks should have a charge port gun on hand. In fact Fox makes one that works great.

Secondly, it is true that our rear resi shocks are not re-builadble. we take that one step further as well as they carry a liftime warranty. If your shocks were to start leaking you contact the distributor you purchased them from for a brand new replacement.

I read through the ICON lifetime warranty and got halfway through it when I came across this line...

"Items subject to wear are not considered defective when worn and are not covered".

Everything on planet Earth wears over time, so exactly how is that a "lifetime warranty"?

I guess it's the lifetime of the shocks valves and not the buyers lifetime? Which would mean when the shock valves crap out and you spend another $450 and buy new ones, when for a lot less you could have had kings rebuilt?

    gotcha.

I liked the Fox's as much as Kings until they switched to black.

I also like the ICON coilovers and the shocks, just not the "lifetime" warranty.

I'm guessing they aren't placing things that get replaced during a standard rebuild under warranty, such as seals. :notsure:

It's also unfair to bag on one company's policy without being able to compare competitor warranties. I'd like to know what the others say.

well the problem i have with icon's rear shocks is they cost the same as a fox piggyback that you can rebuild, if you blow the shock you are out of luck, go buy another one vs rebuild the one's you have. i have no problem with icon or the warranty they provide. buy whatever makes you happy and i am sure other companies have worse warraties than icon.

Well all I can say is that in my 8 years with both Donahoe Racing and Icon we have never denied a warranty shock. The printed warranty is an industry standard and most if not all manufactures have it. The difference is in how it is applied. We try and offer the best customer service in the industry and take care of our customers. It is still cheaper to receive a free replacement shock than pay for a re-build. Plus our shocks are vavled specifically for the vehicle and offer the most travel utilizing the stock mounting points.

i am not bitching about your warrany or shocks, i am sure your warranty is better than most. i had your shocks and felt they are too stiff for the leaf pack that i have, i should have checked to see if you can rebuild them when i bought them but i didn't. after i sold the rear shocks i still bought the reservoir mount from you and i talked to you on the phone, no bad feeling nor am i bitching about icon.

    Good evening Mike,
Sonny here from Downsouth, I am not sure if you remember me, I worked for ORW back in the day and I ran there Internet for a few years....Long story short To many chiefs and not enough Indians..

Anyway, no I am not going to bash you if that is what you are thinking...
Everyone on the planet knows how I feel about King, but I would agree with you as far as the warranty...It is all how it is applied and most of you as manufactures offer some sort of warranty against manufactures defects..
Anyway, that is why I offer a warranty on the shocks I sell for 1 year against leaking....If it leaks under normal use...Normal use is not getting all hammered and thinking you are Robby G. and clearing the canal and landing flat bottom and then you say the shocks are leaking..
Most of the time it lands on Youtube and they do not have a leg to stand on anyway...HA,HA,HA...

The only question I have is what is the policy with Re-Valving your shocks?
I get that question all the time....
Let me know when you have a chance....

Anyway, you guys make a good product and you always have.....

So keep the faith and have fun up there, enjoy they move and tell the boys I said "Hey"

    See ya....
    Sonny

2.5 without running aftermarket UCA...I believe you can go higher to 3.5 if yuo get UCAs.
