'twas a joke, still find their advertising fishy....especially the use of different words (sand/grind/cut/etc.) and additions to instructions a lousy fix, but not my company not my problem.

Remember part of the issue though, this is still a relatively "new" modification that CAN void their warranty. Until last week, I assumed all OEM rear performance shocks did NOT require a notch to install. Icon is NOW the one exception officially as of +/- 6 months.

If Icon had this process already in place with the "voidable warranty" years ago, then we could probably assume this is common knowledge. From some of the responses here, it is evident that I am not the only one who is not educated on the most recent install practices of the rear shocks from Icon's product line. Its a little more than just "not reading the install," especially if folks missed the addendum in their instructions to begin with.

I made this tread to express my dissatisfaction with icons reply to my issue, and wanted feedback from fellow members to see what they have went through with icon. I know I wasn't the 1st to have this issue, nor will I be the last. I have still yet to get my issue resolved. Waiting to get my receipt copy sent to me from my seller. I do want to still apologize to ICON, for I did not for see this to escalate in the manner it did. I only wanted feedback and to see if their was another way to get my problem solved. No matter the outcome, I will still stick by ICON VEHICLE DYNAMICS and proudly show them off once fixed (by icon or not) you guys can all hate me or not for making this tread, I definitely stirred up the hornets nest and angered a lot of members. Aside from my bad customer experience and rear shocks leaking, I have been very happy with the performance of my stage 4 icon suspension kit. Thank you all for your feedback, positive and negative. I hope soon enough I will get them fixed and be on my merry way to the Overland Expo West.

So where are we at with this? These are the main talking points i've seen

Last update was OP was asked to show proof his instructions didn't call for notching and Icon would then cover him via warranty. Has this been resolved?

Icon feels as though it's not a big enough issue to "properly" notify customers above and beyond their instruction manual. IE stickers, further notification of notching on the shocks themselves. In their defense this is the first "blowout" i've seen regarding the issue on TW.

Icon claims they'd spend "all day" on warranty issues for improper installs if they gave the customer the benefit of the doubt. However, they also claim the same shocks pre-revision were properly installed, and would cover this issue if the OP could prove he received pre-revision instructions.

    Working on it now....UNDER CONSTRUCTION
What did we learn? Icon needs to do a better job with R&D and customer service. Why? People focus on negative aspects of a product and scan positive feedback. As a company you need to focus on the negative feedback because that is what will cause you problems. Failure to react properly leads to negative results. If it costs $250 to solve a problem yet you fight it, in will end up costing you much more in the end. Take care of the customer in the end it will take care of you.

    wtf I hate icon now.

Seriously though, you people and your remote reservoir suspension. Like you do high speed Baja desert racing 240 days per year or something. Sheesh.

Man I just wanted to kill some time this morning while taking a dump. 37 pages later and I can't feel my legs anymore. Time to flush. Thanks for the laughs.

    Been there before.

When you stand up, hold onto the counter. I find it helps keep me from falling, and I can brace myself when the leg pain starts.
