I agree completely. Also, the need to weaken shock mount by notching it like that would be a deal-breaker anyhow.

Bottom line is it SHOULD be covered if the instructions included at the time didn't mention anything about modifying the shock mount.

IMO, if they were THAT close and actually making contact, written on paper or not, the installer should have noticed and made the necessary modifications.

I'm not sticking up for Icon, but it should have been fairly obvious to a competent installer.

At this point I'm wishing I went with King because my leaky ass 6 month old Icons are a constant reminder of my bad financial decisions. :annoyed:

 It's not going to weaken anything. A minuscule amount is being shaved off.

It may not weaken it but it's straight bs that we even have to do that. Maybe they should be more like fox/King and get wise. Seems like they had a "fuck it" it's close enough attitude when designing their Tacoma shocks.

I just think everyone's getting their panties in a bunch over such a small deal. We'll pound on sheet metal and cut cab mounts to clear larger tires, but spending a minute or two with an angle grinder taking away 1/4" of metal crosses that line? Please.

No I totally agree that they should cover it if your instructions didn't mention to notch the mount. My post was more directed at EDDO who said it would weaken the mount and at anthony250f who said it's BS that we should have to grind it at all.

It just puts a really bad taste in my mouth that they were pretty much like "nope, no warranty bye." Like I only had them on the truck maybe a month before they started leaking. These things aren't cheap. It's sucks a lot, but I learned the hard way. I know I won't be doing business with icon again

Maybe try calling them or speak with someone else. Looks like Brian Jacobs is a sales rep, not technical or customer service.

I'm confused with the timeline though. You posted that you had them installed end of October, which was 5 months ago, but you said they started leaking a month after that. Have they been leaking since thanksgiving?

Sorry man, but no way in hell taking a flap wheel to that mount and removing a small amount of metal would weaken that steel shock mount. You guys are acting like it's a cardinal sin to remove a divot of material from the frame. That's a 10 minute job per side at most, and that includes letting the paint dry.

    Just do it!

    Shit on a black truck.
I had a stage 5 and recently switched to kings. More than anything it was application and I don't do that fast if wheeling but the quality of kings just in brackets and hardware stands out FYI.

Fab fours front and rear bumpers, B.A.M.F. weld on rock sliders, softopper, removed mud flaps and D-Badged everything. Icon 2.5 Extended Travel coil-overs, Total Chaos upppers, 2.0 Icon extended travel shocks with the resi's and Dekar Leaf packs.
I didn't notch mine but I did have the same issue with the fitting coming loose and I remember giving them a snug when I installed them. I would have never bought them with the resi but they were cheaper than the regular ones. And the hoses suck also, they didn't last any time.

do you have a better pic of where its leaking? can you see any rub marks on the shock / shock mount? if there are indeed marks, then its your installers fault for not cycling the suspension during install. if no marks, then send them in for a rebuild as they are under warranty.
