All aboard the "ICON SUCKS" train without the OP even taking the initiative to see what caused the problem in the first place. Poor reservoir mounting or shock body positioning during install wouldn't have anything to do with ICON, if that's the case. All we have is a shitty picture and one cut off e-mail from a sales person.

Many are still running the rear shocks without giving the reservoir fitting a little extra clearance and there are no problems...

Thousands of people run there stuff without issue.

Nothing like a good ol' forum gangbang.

I installed the same rear shocks on mine last October. My instructions showed notching the bucket, and I did. It was real easy with a grinder. No problems here.

Like they say: Opinions are like assholes.
I happen to like my Icons and see no need to abandon ship (see what I did there?). Everyone will say one setup is better than another for this reason or that, but I have yet to actually see someone that has run every single aftermarket shock on their truck to have valid first hand knowledge of which is better for whatever particular setup. Rather stories like, "A buddy of mine's cousin's husband's college roommate had his shocks explode and dildos came pouring out." or "I saw on youtube that you can't run that setup because it will alter the space-time continuum and you'll go back in time and become your own grandfather." All that does is fuel the fire of urban legends and myths.
That being said, just because one shock is better for Joe Schmo's truck doesn't mean it will be good for yours and vise versa. It all varies depending on intended use and how and where you drive your truck. Internet superstars don't get that.

I love my icons zero issues. In fact I think they ride better than the kings I had on other trucks. But hey I understand a customer service issue. I have had bad experiences with other companies(vintage air) that others love. I think it's important to realize that not everyone gets the desired outcome. Were they willing to repair rather than replace?

If that's the case then OPs instructions likely stated the same, and fault falls on the installer. They likely thought "I know how to do this. It's basic shit." And didn't even bother with the instructions.

EDIT: IF the leaking is caused from it rubbing the shock mount. If it's from loose fittings, that's another issue.

I think it was discussed earlier that the movement is in the rubber bushing during driving and is "normal". I'm assuming the installer made sure their was clearance between the fitting and the shock mount.

If they're calling for notching the bucket permanently modifying your truck to me that means no matter how you install them they don't "fit" properly without trimming the bucket. I'd bet alota people wouldn't buy them if they knew that ahead of time. It's on them if you got the wrong revision of the instructions.

I feel bad for the guy but this is on the installer. Truck should have never left with the fittings that close to the bucket. Shim it like the other guy posted or notch the bucket. Also, you guys should be checking the fittings before running the shocks. I honestly do not understand why you would not? it is what a 1/4" pipe fitting? Could be jarred in shipping, could be banged in installation. It wouldn't take much to loosen it, it is not like you can put 300ft/lbs to it, just check that it is tight before cycling and problem solved.

Also, this is not a factory shock replacement. You did not buy them to get factory ride. Your factory shocks did not have 2.5" bodies and external reservoirs. This is a modification and requires some due diligence. It is not the same as buying a set of replacement calipers. it is more like you buy a warn winch, slap it on your truck and run the cables. Three months down the road your monkey of a job running the cables rubs against the frame and burns your truck to the ground. is that warns fault because they supplied the cable? NO.

I think it's funny when people get butthurt and take it personal when someone has a complaint/issue with a certain brand that they happen to have on their own vehicle and since they have never personally had an issue than it must not be a valid complaint/issue.

    Icon sucks :spy:

I think it's way more funny when people that don't even have ICON, Fox, King, etc are butthurt about a complaint/issue then join the bandwagon because it's the cool thing to do since they heard something had a problem from some dude on the internet.
