I didn't read the whole thread but when I installed mine I thought that fitting was too close to the bucket. I got no instructions to notch the bucket which I was going to do anyway. I didn't like how close it was. I instead put a washer at the bottom of the bushing assembly. It gave me enough room and was barely able to get the nut on. Works perfect. No probs.

The coil overs are nice but require more maintenance. King, Icon, Fox all make great coil overs. Some like one some like another. The shocks were not intended for daily driving with 100k mile service intervals. Eventually they all leak, they all corrode, they all need new heim joints and so on. They are race shocks meant to be beat on then overhauled. If you don't mind the maintenance in exchange for better offroad handling then they are for you. If you want to bolt them in, goto the mall and forget about them id buy something different.

I see all these debates about which ones handle better on the road. None of them were intended for that. IMO Icons are better for mid travel fox and king for long and I would gander many will agree.

As for the OP I feel bad got him. Shit happens. Icon should stand behind the product to regardless. It would cost them peanuts to keep a customer happy.

That is likely a good thing. Any idea if warranty work happens at DC too?

I am not sure and don't want to speculate at all. Kurt the owner is a great and fair dude there. I got my Camburg Branded CO's RR for $350 and they were on my truck. What a deal especially considering a MTB shock at PUSH is close LOL

I'm happy with my icon front and rear but come on why would you void a warranty coz you didn't notch the bucket? I didn't notch the bucket on mine, and so far it's not hitting it, and even been taking my truck off-road :fingerscrossed:

@CaptainReverso didnt hit the fitting to cause the leak, so most likely it's icon dynamics poor quality control. Once you bought the shocks it should be plug and play.

LOL. This is what happens when you aren't loved enough or encouraged as a kid. You come on the internet to belittle people, you don't even know, and insult them to try to gratify yourself and feel important.

I don't think a whole lot of people actually read Icon's warranty.

These are the instructions for 2nd gen front coilovers and....well you see the thing about Icon is.....

See where it says "Icon Vehicle Dynamics products are not designed, nor are they intended to be installed on vehicles used in RACE applications, for racing purposes or for similar activities blah blah blah blah"?

    upload_2017-3-28_20-58-25.jpg

I always thought it was weird that in order to get a lot of use out of the digressive valving you have to drive fast....like in a race.....and then say that it isn't covered under warranty......o_O

I can't recall a manufacturer that does warrantee for race applications. Sure would have made life a whole lot cheaper, only having to buy one of everything. :)

Regardless of the circumstances, I think the OP has done a great service to current or future Icon rear-resi owners. This is a crucial piece of information that needs to be out there.

It's a really crappy feeling to pay good money for something to fail after a hand full of months. Then have the manufacturer said "to bad" I would hate for fellow TW people to experience horrible customer service like that

And on top of that the manufacturer says to modify your truck to accommodate for their poor design

They need to revise the instructions to Step 1, check fittings for tightness. Seems like a few have came out the box loose.

I find it funny that people claim icon is so superior because they put so much more r & d into vehicle specific setups. Wake up, they can't even get top hats or reservoir fittings right smh.
