Definitely. It will be much harsher without weight in the bed.

With bumper it might be worth getting HD .They're meant to have 600lbs constant load. That being the case it will sag less when loaded and with bumper might be a smart choice.

the 2.5 extended that I have?
Absolutely fucking love them and the total chaos UCA.

I really want to do the stock length Total Chaos LCA but fuck are they expensive :(

I need to find about $10k extra to just do all I want to finish off my suspension set up lol.

i have the Pro suspension and i run the truck light with E range tires in the smallest size i know for E's: 265/65-17. these are super firm tires, and if it wasn't for the progressive nature of these shocks, it would be a very hard ride for sure. but as a combo it's amazing on the road anywhere anytime for how i drive, and I'm an avid driver. I've been interested in the Icons but not for my daily driver personally. if i happened to like running softer tires then maybe I'd like how that combination sounds.

fox or kings all day any day over Icon.

I just have a personal issue with Icon that prevents me from even considering them.

Slightly more travel than a normal coilover. Considered “mid travel” and you’ll need new UCAs.

I’ve had nothing but good things to say about my icons. Good customer service too. But if I could do it over again, it’d be in this order... KINGS

You realize that those two work against each other right? With these style lifts, you increase ride height by reducing down travel, reducing down travel gives you a shitty ride “floating over bumps”. Don’t go for max lift height if you want decent ride quality at speed over bumps.

    Don’t go over 2.5”

The weird thing is, they’re advertised as 0-3.5” but if you crank it up in order to get the 3.5” you’re exceeding the manufacturers specs on how much thread is showing... soooo

    specifically, icon.

Fox says 0-3. Do your research on the amount you can crank them up though. My hub to fender measurement is 23” but I have 700lb x 14” coils so there’s less than half an inch of thread showing because of the longer spring.

I would personally recommend Fox shocks. They are built of better materials than both King and Icon. King is the most 'comfortable' shock, but they need rebuilds more often than Fox shocks because they do not use as high quality of materials, and Fox shocks also feature a hardened chromoly shaft for better durability and surface coatings for deflecting rocks. As others have stated if you arent running for hours at a time reservoirs are overkill, but if you do decide to get an aftermarket leaf pack you will need bypass shocks instead of the "Oe replacement" ones.

As far as going fast and carrying loads is concerned, your best bet for that is going to be a rear leaf pack with as many leaves as you can get. The more leaves, the greater the ability to soak up a variety of different types of impact (like small ones when youre crawling, big ones when youre desert running, and hard ones while towing) while not giving you a worse ride over any of those situations. That, in combination with a shock with proper valving will get you where you need to be.

I would highly recommend ordering Fox shocks from Accutune offroad as they have their own proprietary valving formulae which offer a better ride over any terrain.

Therefore, which leaf would you recommend for that use? HS offers Deaver single AAl, HS 3 leaf AAL, or Dakars?
Which would be considered "more leaves"?

Anyone recommend powder coating the coils? Im shooting towards fox but man i wish the coils were black..
Also, im still debating either level 2 or 3. Do I really need both with resi? And what about them compression adjuster?

Deaver 10-leaf pack most likely. If you can find one with 12 that would be ideal. An AAL wont cut it for your purposes. The issue is that the combo of going fast AND carrying weight are essentially opposite ends of the spectrum for a leaf pack. If you want to go fast you typically want a softer pack to absorb hits and then droop back out quickly, and for carrying loads you obviously would want a stiffer pack to handle the weight. Using a light leaf pack to carry heavy loads leads to excess sway and using a heavy leaf pack for desert running will have you bouncing in the air off every woop. The best of both worlds is a progressive pack with lots of leaves so the entire leaf pack is pretty stiff but if you dont need the whole thing for the hit then only a few leaves will be used and they can rebound more quickly.
