Just as the title says fellas and ladies. I'm planning on getting a lift for my taco, trying to get about 3" in the front. After much research I have narrowed it down to either the Fox 2.5s C/Os in front with the Fox 2.0s in the back or the Icon stage 1 with the Icon 2.5s C/Os in front and the Icon 2.0s in the rear. Both cost about the same and are in the lower end of the full Coilover spectrum. Cast your vote and leave a response as to which one you voted for. I know I can't really go wrong with either. Thanks TW peeps!

    PS
I know I'll need new UCAs, and have them coming, going with the JBA std high caster. Have a friend running them and he loves them.

icons here. I have 700lb x 14” king springs on them. Not sure about fox, but I would not expect 3” out of the icons unless you get a 14” spring when you order them... way too much preload needed to get a full 3” with the standard 13x650 springs.

Just my 3 cents. See what I did there? I crack myself up.

Icons if you want to feel every bump at lower speeds, Fox if you want a comfortable ride.

Had icons on this truck an foxes on a different truck. But have rode on both in a taco I prefer the Foxes. Icons were nice but a little stiff at slower speeds Fox was buttery smooth.

So, is that the general consensus? That brands like Fox and King are better/smoother/nicer on road for daily drivers, as compared to Icon and Bilstein, due to the progressive/digressive valving, out of the box? Of course, thats not taking into consideration custom valving...

Correct. Icons have their place, and offer a nice firm road ride if you like that. But fox, king and any progressive/linear tuned shock with have a softer ride overall.

Not many will have the time or knowledge of how to request a custom valve job when you can just buy a fox or king out the box ready to go, and also even after a revalve the icons wont come near the ride comfort of a king/fox. But if you are happy with icon thats what counts

If you plan on running Load E 33s don’t expect suspension to make a huge difference in ride quality. You’re still going to feel bumps.

Disclaimer: I run Extended Fox coilovers with Load E 33s

This is great guys, thanks! This is the kind of stuff I was looking for, real world experience with each product. Looks like Fox is in the lead

Custom valving can be really easy, we just need to know the weight, how you're using it, and what you're preferences are. Our equations will handle the rest.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
I've never noticed this but lots of people like to repeat it. I have Icons in the front and King in the rear. The icons are progressive compression and very slightly digressive rebound and I've had them adjusted to better fit my truck. My Kings are also custom valved for the rear and ride very well. I use 2.5" dia shocks front and rear for the extra fluid capacity. I think most people here really don't realize that these shocks (all brands) are only as good as whoever valved them. My truck with its Icons and Kings rides like a trail bombing cloud, it's exactly what I've always wanted out of my wheeling rigs. But without custom valving neither brand's valving was quite right for anything.

I have Icon EXT non resis. They're good, but I'm liking what I see on the Fox Life thread.

Don't know if I want Fox or Kings or ADS. Thinking resis w/adjusters.

By nice firm road ride, do you mean it doesn't soak up bumps, pot holes, rail road crossings as well, and that you will be able to feel those types of jolts and bumps in the cab? And by saying that Fox and King have a softer ride, does that mean you will also feel those sorts of jolts, since its softer?? Or will those shocks soak those up and make it feel like you're just gliding around?

I swear I can feel every nook and cranny in the road on my stock Off Road suspension, especially in the rear. I am surrounded by forrest land so I do get out into the woods quite a bit, but this is my daily, and it mostly commutes me around town and back down to the Bay Area, so performance on the road is my ultimate goal.
