with the aal you are stregnthening the stock springs and taking off the overload for more flex. some people leave in the overload to get more height. i like having a little more flex so i just used the overload as block. the aal was designed to take out the OL spring. some leave it in. its all preference really

The 3 leaf pack without overload reduces payload.

    But okay.

Either way, adding a full time load of say 200 lbs and adding the 3 leaf which decreases payload capacity in itself and then removing the overload will put a noticeable crimp in your ability to haul or tow.

Additionally, you'll lose more lift height because the pack is weakened, so that 3/4" sag becomes an inch or more without any extra weight in the bed than the shell.

Cutting the overload into a janky stub doesn't solve the weak spring issue, and you might lose the half inch you gain by keeping it there but taking its usefulness away.

So.. what's the point? Lot of effort to shot yourself in the foot, and it's nonsensical.

i agree to an extent. ive seen others without the overload for that purpose. the overload is for just that that overloading the springs. if he has a shell and just goes camping and likes to take it offroading i dont see a problem with taking it out. its an option if he choose to do so

Did you leave or add any shims with your install? Did you check pinion angles?

I have a 2015 TRD Pro and have the ICON 3 PROGRESSIVE AAL ready to install but on the fence to leave the overload in or take it out. Mine definitely squats in the rear with no load in or on the bed.

i rarely ever carry any load, so i left my overload out, i dont think i would want anymore rake, which would be the case if i left it in..

Cool, thx for the info. I guess I am a bit surprised how much rake you ended up with since the Pro's sit like 1.75" higher in the front. I bought the same set that you have, Icon 3 leaf Progressive AAL. By chance do you have pict of your truck from the side?

Anything under a 3" lift and you should be fine there is a certain +/- Toyota has allowed for the flange of the pinion to drive shaft for drive shaft degrees. It's kind of hard to explain with out a pic. It's kind of the same concept as your cv axles and no diff drop kit.

Thanks for the picture, looks better than mine in the back. Mine looks like I am always have something in the bed. Though hard to see that it is 1 1/8" rake.
