I’m really wanting to pull the trigger on these but my wallet wants me to install the new shocks/coilovers first to see where I sit.

Add a leaf is only putting a bandaid on the problem it will help but 6months-a year it will sag and be on the bump stops. Factory packs in these trucks are junk, i picked up my leafs from 4wd on a black friday deal last year they were under $500 shipped. I am on stage 2 with my shell which is 2-300lbs and another 2-300 worth of gear and junk. I would say 4-500lbs including the topper at all times and the truck drives great with a 1.1 lift up front i still have a 1.25-1.5'' rake. Buy once cry once i sold my stock packs on fb for $125 since they had such low miles a 2nd gen guy grabbed them, I run 5215 shocks in the rear as well btw.

Yeah but I am getting the AAL for free so might as well try it out and if it fits my needs then great! If not I will pull the trigger, plus it gives me another excuse to get under my truck lol

I get it for the sake of wanting to wrench away, just stating the obvious you will be right back where you started in a few months looking for full leaf packs. The factory leafs are just trash. When i was all bone stock with just the topper nothing else in the back i lost all my rake and was sitting .25-.5'' lower in the rear than front. That was with no gear, hauling nothing for a camping trip etc i ran a 1.25'' rear block for a bit but it road like crap was always on the bump stops. A aal would be ok if you want to get a small lift in the back on an empty bed but hauling around a topper the factory packs cant cut it. I changed to a cab height topper but this is when i was all stock and just picked up my mid rise ARE nothing else in the bed i was sagging in the rear truck only had 10-12k so it was not like it was an old worn out pack.

Pulled the trigger on the RXT pack directly from Icon. The $634.12 out the door held up.

We’ll see how the free freight plays out. Once my order confirmation email came through I noticed this message at the bottom. Not gonna be super pleased if I end up having to burn too much time/fuel going to a dealer to pick up.

I just saw that they dropped to $300.78 per pack on Amazon. Shipped and sold by Icon. $634 out the door with the u bolts still a better deal than buying on Amazon and having to get the u bolt kit.

@backcountryj were you charged any kind of sales tax? Or are you in a state that doesn’t charge online sales tax?

No sales taxes where charged. I’m in GA, which normally would have applicable taxes if the retailer has a store front within the state. I’m not sure if Icon is an exception, or if they’ll attempt to charge taxes upon pickup at a dealer.

Trigger has been pulled. Did you need extended brake lines with the 5125? Trying to decide which shock to get.

For sure. I still need to source some UCA as I’m wanting to just push through and swap everything front/rear at the same time.

Good choice I went 5125s because with 5100s I would have had to change the rear lines. If I recall there was two length 5100s. One would have been too short and the other extended travel 5100 would have required longer brake lines. The 5125 is in between the length of the two 5100s. The metal sleeve that goes between the lower bushing is slightly wider just need to trim it with a hacksaw, grinder, bandsaw etc takes two seconds. Otherwise it’s a direct bolt in that’s the reason I went 5125s still gave me more than enough shock travel for what I do with the truck without having to swap the lines.

Last few things you need to square away is bump stops since the factory is too short. Instead of a fancy expensive bump stop. I went gm’s with basically a u bolt flip kit it was the least expensive option. I picked up the gm bumps, under the axle u bolts and icon top strike plates. I could have just picked up a u bolt flip kit which is essentially the same thing it was just cheaper that way. I was about $150 in the mounts just require 1 hole to drill and mount right up. Check out this thread there’s more if you search. Lastly there are brake lines that are bolted to the diff I removed the bolt got a longer one and put a 1” spacer you could also just use washers too. This was just cheap and easy insurance to be on the safe side for when the shock went to full extension I had enough brake line travel.

I bought my icons through them edit: actually no I just looked and bought mine through sakari Motorsports, another no name company I was leary about, but I researched online and they had good reviews so I risked it.

I know you aren’t asking me, but I keep going back and forth on this decision. The data and other’s suggestions points me to option 2. Hearing the lift results ppl have gotten from option 2, and being concerned with too firm for a daily ride has me pondering option 1.

I currently have stock leafs with a 1" block, and my front sits slightly higher than the rear still.

I will go with option 2, potentially option 3 if it's not enough.

I have extended eibach rear shocks, and eibach adjustable coilovers.
