Did my bi-annual Icon RXT clean out and lube, hopefully no more squeaks for 6 months. Also finally got to use my new badlands jack.

What is it about Icon RXTs that make them so prone to squeak?

To my understanding a lot of other packs also squeak, not just icon but I am unsure of the reasons behind the squeaks!

My opinion on the subject is that the friction pads that they use are not large enough to mitigate or avoid the metal-to-metal scrubbing.

Mine have been squeaking since probably a week after installation. (Done by reputable local shop). Its gotten really bad, like embarrassingly bad, squeaks when getting in and out of the truck etc.

Took Icon a few weeks to get back to the shop about warranty, they want to resend out new bushings and spacers for the leafs to see if it fixes it. Another month wait for the items to arrive here.

Shop says as it happened almost right away they will most likely cover the labour cost but also no guarantee this fixes it.
They ride nice, but not too impressed with Icon.

I couldnt decide between option 1 and 2 since I normally drive around empty, but tow a boat and full bed of gear a weekend per month. I ended up pulling the leaf pack apart and greased between each leaf and put back at option 1 since I thought id get more lift than icon advertised. With only sliders and bed mat I ended up with 1.75" of lift, although they ride much better than stock. Knowing this I probably would have went stright to option 2.

OK, so we have had some heavy heavy rain, and some oddly hot weather and now back to rain.... Still no squeaks... as in not a single squeak. I know there are a lot of people doing different cleaning and different lubes, but I vote on just bite the bullet and get the leaf liners. somewhere back in this thread someone mentioned it adding lift..... that is not the case. The little metal shims stay in place, and you add the liner on each side of the metal spaces. if you think your getting any lift at all, think again. Its also a good plan to when doing this upgrade do one side at time.. take everything apart and clean super well and grease the pivot and bushing area.. I used some sort of "Gucci" grease for motorcycle and mountain bikes I had left over... drive a few hundred miles and then retorque the u bolt nuts. I did an all in one upgrade.. leaf's, flip kit and the super bump stops... really cleaned up the ride off road. and looks a hundred times better than stock ubolts.

Can confirm, going on a week now with no squeaks in both rain and dry weather.

I used the Amazon spring liners on one side, and cut up garden edging for the other because of a late shipment. Teflon spray between layers. I was able to use the shorter center bolt, but had to use the longer U-bracket. I would post photos of liners being installed but I keep getting an error, so here is the link to my build post with them.

I've done the bicycle tire route before, works for a while and then it wears out near the tip and starts squeaking, again.
This time, slathered some 60% moly into the inserts as i was assembling for option 3 then i had to stop..
Americas tire cross threaded the lugs and several were so locked up they sheared, no one stocks the rear lugs around here! special order..
I'd so be up shit creek if this happened on a road trip

I have had mine for about a month and so far no squeaks . . . . or maybe I just can't hear them.

Trucks rattle and squeak... I got over this a long time ago with my RXT option 3.

They do get kind of more quiet if they are lubed or properly cleaned but the real solution is adding the rated weight.

Truth is if you add the weight they are rated for to begin with they dont squeak at all. I have seen a few others call this out in this thread.

Yessir! Honestly over time the dirtier and dustier mine get the better. No regrets going straight to option 3 either.
