Yeah, I thought about the possibility of topping the shocks out if I go with option two. I have a AAL in now that puts my rear at just a hair over 24” from center of hub to fender and have no issues with topping out. Thought about extending the brake lines too. You think that’s a must?

I am running stage 1 with no issues. I do have an 80lb rack back there now but I do not feel its causing any ride/height issues. Still rides way better than stock.

If you are running standard travel shocks no need to extend. Your shocks will limit the travel so you won’t have an issue stressing the lines. I still think on option two you might top the shocks out. There is def more spring tension on these than an add-a-leaf.

I've read some are getting 2"+ with option one. I'm good with that if it's true. Anyone else getting that with option one or do they settle down to 1.85 after a few months?

Regardless of the leaf configuration option chosen, these leafs travel more than the shocks. I have 12" shocks and the leafs cycle more than my shocks, barely.

So do you think option 2 would be to high for standard length Fox 2.5 DSC’s?

I'm not too sure. None will be perfect, the stock mounts just limit you on bump and droop, but yeah, you probably won't get far before the shocks are fully extended. Mine got about 2.5" of lift on option 2, so that's a decent change for a shock that only has about 9" of travel, might only give you about 2" of droop before the shock is fully extended.

Again, without knowing the actual length, compressed length and extended length, plus where it sits in that travel on the truck, I can't say, but....signs point to yeah, you'll be limited on droop.

Here are the specs for my shocks. Feel free to chime in- you or anyone else.

I’m going to swing by ace hardware to pick up a couple C Clamps before I head home. Do I need to go with 4” or 6” Clamps?

Edit: if I go with option 2 should I pick up 4” or 6” C Clamps?

Right, and I was saying that option 2 would be pretty significant on the shocks.

You are going to top those out with these springs in any configuration. Option 1 will not be as bad as option 2 but it will still happen. I ran the RXTs on option 2 with the stock OR Bilstein shocks until my @Radflo Shocks came in and I was topping them out all the time. Significant degradation in ride quality, not to mention the increase risk of damage to the shock. I am running 12" Radflos now and I have had no issues with travel so far in the back. If I were you I would see if you can swap those shocks out for extended travel version.

I would say def not 4". I think the ones I used were like 10". A little overkill but when you decompress these springs they are going to expand a lot so go a little bigger than you think. I would say 8" is probably a safe bit, if they don't have those try 6".

When it comes to reassembly it really helps to have two sets of hands. I placed the bolt on the ground then started stacking the leafs in and pushing them down by hand and holding. Once I got some threads showing on the bolt my friend screwed the nut on enough to hold. Then I used the clamps to compress to make the nut easier to tighten. Make sure you reassemble in the right order and orientation. I f*cked that up a couple times, super annoying. Make sure they line up like the first pic and not the second.

Well shoot.. I might just leave the leaf pack on option one if you think option two will put too much stress on the shocks. Anyone else want to chime in or is @charlieyankee88 spot on?

@charlieyankee88 thanks for the info btw

So you have about 8" travel. If your shocks were centered in the stroke at ride height stock (probably aren't, let's just say they are for discussion sake), you have 4" droop, so if you lift it 2" you now only have 2" . No bueno. Is your goal to lift it eventually?

6" clamp minimum, 8 or 10 would be ok too. Smaller the clamp, the more cussing you have to do before you can put it on. Harbor freight will be cheap and more than adequate for your needs if you have one near by. You don't need much force with the clamps.

I’m going to stick with option one. Down the road I’ll go with extended shocks and adjust the leaf pack then. Thanks for your help.

Out of curiosity which radflo’s are you running in the rear? Do you have a part number?

Options 1-3 don’t affect the flex range...the shocks you posted are stock length, meaning a few inches too short to allow the springs to flex down to their potential. Even if you are sitting in middle of the stroke, allowing (most) shocks to be the travel limiting device in either direction will prematurely blow their seals. I’m not 100% on your particular model.

I have some Bilstein B110’s that I’m about to install for my RXTs. I’ve read a lot of good things about them, and at 1/6th of the cost of those fox’s, it may be a solid interim fix for you. (If you went this route, you’d need a longer bump stop).

For that price I would go ADS. I paid $1100 brand new rears with extended break lines. These have 9.8” of cycle travel and are 26” extended, but they are extended travel and adjustable. Bulletproof beefy design and I run them with the medium (6-leaf Dakar pack)

The first pic is them next to an Old Man Emu shock. Second pic is the extended travel front with 700# springs.

With FOX you have to spend seriously big buck$ to get the best quality, like their $2500 dual adjustable 2.5 D shocks.

Only shocks I would compare to ADS are Kings or Bilstein 8112’s...just my 2cents
