I installed RXT's stage 2 - What have you guys found to be the best match when adding shocks to the rear. What specs are you guys needing at stage 2 and 3 - I see Eibachs are for 0-1.5" of lift and Bilsteins I think are 0-2" of lift. My Icon RXT ride great but want to add shocks that will compliment them the best. I have the Eibach Stage 2 kit on my whip now and the rear states 0-1.5" of lift and rides fine but is this shock sufficient? Thanks for any input. I have ARE topper and will have 100-200 lbs of gear. Thanks

maybe these instructions are well written...maybe it's me having difficulty grasping the obvious?

"option 2: replace the 3rd spring in the pack with the additional leaf provided in kit"
done...now i have 2 leafs sitting in the garage for the last few years & now wish to go option 3...

so where do the 2 leafs that have been sitting in the garage for the last few years go in the pack?

    thanks in advance!

I've got Fox Elite 2.5's for the rear (883-26-113 advertised as 2"-3" of lift) and I'm wondering if I can get away with running icon rxt's in a stage 1 configuration advertised for 1.875" of lift unloaded? Only added weight in the rear is a Bakflip X4s tonneau and oem bedmat which is roughly 130-140lbs give or take.

2 leafs? Should still be 1 (per side)

Stage 2 you take out the 3rd leaf, in its place you put the extra leaf that came in the kit leaving you w one leaf again

Stage 3 you add the extra leaf with the kit leaving you no leafs....

Or if Ive read it wrong and you have a total of 2 leafs (I think I read it as you had 2 leafs per side extra)

The 2 leafs you have left can be added in..If you wanna go stage 3 take the spring you have your garage and pull off your top 3 springs, put "garage spring in slot 3 (top to bottom) where it originally was, then the "extra" leaf from the original shipment on top of that and the other spring on top of that and put back together.. stage 3

Yes, but just make sure that you do not overload it and aftermarket bumpstops wouldn't hurt either to make sure you are not bottoming out the shock.

In case anyone is wondering I pulled the trigger on these from csp racing. Did some digging around on them and all the other icon dealers and distributors. Literally called most if not all of them to see if they could price match or beat csp. Only summit racing came close to actually matching price. They still charged tax and a $10 per ea. Oversized shipping charge. I used PayPal as payment so I had a buffer if things went bad as well. Ordered yesterday around 330pm. Showed up today before noon! Less then 24 hrs. Free shipping no tax. 516 is what hit the PayPal account . The biggest thing I found when researching is that some leaf packs from the bigger names come with the unbolt kit included, so icon/wheelers/4wheelparts all had the kit included. Already running a set so wasn't issue for me. Csp had a winter23 code for 5% which gets it to the final price you see. Can't wait for the before and after photos going stage 3 . Also doing a rebuild on the icon 2.5 setup all around along with heavier coils in front all at once

has anyone added the aal in addition to the stage 3 for more then 600lbs support? or any combination of. I have had a few people suggest the 800lbs springs of other brands so ill be starting with the RXT stage 3. and i already have the icon AAL currently that will be standing by. if anyone has experience with that would be interesting to hear.

Question. Upon install, on the gas tank side did anyone else flip your bolts around to ensure there was no touching the gas tank?
I know the rxt instructions specifically talk about ensuring the shackle bolt (nut end) faces away from the gas tank when u swap shackles to new leaf pack but that bolt is no where near the gas tank…. Did they mean these (my pic) because these were the only bolts close to the gas tank.

I’m sure that’s clear as mud.

Would not be recommended at all. If you are "consistently" carrying around that much weight (not just in the short term), get rid of the RXT's and move to either a custom pack of the Deaver u402 stage 3 pack. Outside of that, please remember that these are midsized trucks and even if the leafs could take it, your rear axle is not made to handle overloading it and bending an axle can and does happen. A truss may be needed or even an upgrade to an aftermarket axle like a Dana.

That is correct. During leaf articulation, the leafs do bend and flex sideways and having the nut end facing outward is the best possible chance of not scoring or scraping the gas tank.

I installed Icon Stage 9 on my Tacoma. I have a cap with a drawer system, and run a RTT. A lot of weight. I went with Option 3 for the leaf pack. According to Icon when I called them a couple of years ago when I was installing the shocks and leaf springs, that configuration can handle up to 1000lbs...vs the 600lbs stated in the printed instructions. IDK...as stated above by Jared, really gotta watch the weight due to the axle, etc.

1k vs 600 is significantly different... Wonder why the spread

That's what I thought too. Perhaps related to liability on their part??
While I am satisfied with the Icon setup, and no problems, I think if I were to do it again, I'd go with Deaver springs as they seem stronger and more durable.

[Edit]: The above statement regarding Deaver springs is based on research that I did and reading through several articles and postings from a couple of years ago. I just did some checking on this topic, and found several more more recent articles such as this one that appear to support the understanding that I had. https://adventuresontherock.com/tacoma-leaf-springs/

Don't get me wrong, the Icon springs are great, but for the heavier build that I ended up doing, the Deavers would have been a better choice.
